The real problem is listening to Todd, he doesn't show any emotion at all, almost sounds like "who cares", I'm not saying it is that, but can you imagine a Finnery or Thommo interview, they'd be raging, and you could bet your bottom dollar, changes would happen. This has gone on all season, why is he even talking about roster changes now, there are 10 games left! We'll scrape top 8 I reckon, as I don't see Coventry winning many more, but, don't be surprised if it goes to the last week, and I predict we'll be 8th. Todd has spoken about changes, guys playing for their jobs yada yada....he knows fine he has the safest job not only in British Hockey, but probably British Sport
There seems absolutely no panic, no desire to change, and it all comes from the top down.
I'm coming up for the game on the 4th March, and I'm sitting racking my brains to find something else I'd rather be doing.....
So utterly frustrating, yet so utterly predicted.

Guys know there spot is safe as you can't make roster changes now so they are in a comfort zone thinking about there holidays I'd hate to think the mess we would be in without Owen and dingle

Great updates as always stirling. As guys have said already, you are a legend and deserve a medal. By all accounts from others at games who have spoken to me, you give a very true running commentary and little if any errors in keying the information for all to read while keeping an eye on all the action. This weekend three games two of which were away and put up with at times a poor on ice product from the Flyers. Well done stirling.

I think the 2nd period thing is down to fitness they can't play 60 mins every week because they are unfit I think its a combination of a few things including fitness levels. No Strength and Conditioning coach, players are left to their own devices away from the rink. Over playing imports right from the start. Not using his full squad unless he was forced to. Not replacing guys out long term quickly enough (and the Follmer nonsense) The drinking culture at Fife isn't exactly dead. Players (imports) have no fear of not playing or getting ice time. Giving a half arsed effort is enough.

Giving a half arsed effort is enough. Spot on. The key here, is pretty much all of these fall under the responsibility of the coach to resolve. If you recall a couple of years back, he did say on an interview, it's not his job to motivate the team...... So frustrating when you look around the league at how quickly changes can be/are made when they are required, either through injury or just to spice things up.

and he thinks guys like thommo would not be motivating and ripping in to the team if they need it sometimes ripping people a new one is the only way to motivate them, but does then mean that none of the players show him the proper respect

Not everyone is cut out to be a coach, you can have great players, influential players, who give their all, but struggle with the transition from player to coach. It's not for everyone, some find it quite hard moving from team mate to boss. I kind of get the impression that this applies with Todd. Especially in the early years, when it was SNL hockey, there was no real requirement to be a leader, nobody really got to upset about things win or lose, even when we started dropping games and trophies to Dundee, Solway and Whitley etc. The EIHL is a very different animal, all of a sudden you are no longer just coaching your pals, you're dealing with ego's of a import players, and having to make sure guys settle, and get what they need as professional hockey players. Some say he's out his depth, if I'm honest, I think that's maybe a little harsh, but what I would say, is it looks like he has lost his enthusiasm for the job himself, and that is most definitely filtering through the team.
Just hope this isn't a reflection of perhaps a "behind the scenes" decision to drop out and go for a lower level league again, hence, no desire or requirement for change

As a Clan fan, YES it's good to beat Fife as often as we have this season but was it not last season we could hardly buy a win over you? Would much rather see a stronger Flyers side that would give us much more competitive games. I agree with a lot of you on one thing and that is Tom Muir snr has been way to loyal to Dutiaume. Maybe it's the thought of having to pay serious wages to a replacement, arranging housing, a car instead of having a coach like Todd that lives here anyway. Shane Owen seems to have just run out of steam. Craig Douglas, a guy I have known personally for many years, would be worthy of more ice time. He has never let you down in the past. The problem with most import laden sides is that around this time of the season they take their eye off the puck and start thinking about going home. Every club in the EIHL goes thru that. Brendan Brooks is a player I have a shed load of respect for. I wish he had never left the Clan and we'd have him back in a flash. On his game he is unstoppable. Phenomenal skater and handles a stick better than most imports I have watched.
I genuinely hope you get back on track but a lot is going to have to change before that happens.
To the one or two Flyers fans that still consider themselves friends of mine, all the best from Paisley
