I would have taken a 2 goal deficit from the first leg but a bit disappointing to lose 4 goals, including a late goal and 3 powerplay goals while we did nothing with our powerplay opportunities. I don't think Craig will be as quick to dish out penalties as Smith was last night but we need to be much better on the penalty kill and powerplay tonight. It might be harsh but I would consider benching Scoon and rotating with 8 forwards because it is make or break. It is going to be tough but we are still in it. If we can get an early goal, the old barn will be rocking and it will be interesting to see how the temperamental members of the Giants team handle that.

Back at 5am this morning and the buses were a bit behind us. Well that was the Dean Smith show last night and hard luck to the Flyers who deserved no less than a draw, it was unbelievable how petty Fife's penalties were compared to some of the things Smith let go and it kept Giants in the game. The break through for the home team came with a soft Scoon penalty which they scored on then followed it up very quickly with a screened blast from Walser to put them ahead and stay there for the remainder of the 60 minutes. Watching the game you would have put your house on Smith giving Giants a late power play and he did't disappoint. Very gutsy performance from Fife who if they play the same way tonight can take this tie to a positive conclusion. Word from a Flyers player on the boat coming home was that no hand shake happened because with it being a two legged affair the game isn't officially over till after the return fixture tonight. The crowd will have a very big say in the outcome of tonights game so lets hope they can spur the team onto a fantastic finish and we can all look forward to Scottingham next weekend.
