Just back at my hotel after an enjoyable weekend's hockey down south. We never played too badly and the new guy looks like a worthwhile addition. Off to bed then a long drive up the road tomorrow.
That's the conference tight now, if nothing else at least it's more exciting than last season!

Podge was centering Hogg and Dolan. Danny and Todd were on 3rd line, although Danny dropped to D occasionally. Haines, Pitton and Chaumont were the first line.

Podge showed signs of his skill, his goal was well taken, it's a pity he didn't score on the first attempt after skinning the Panthers D-man but he took his second chance well. Jason's goal was just a laser of a wrist shot, stick then net bulge.

Flyers were a lot better against Panthers than we were against Steelers last night.
However in both games we got pushed off the puck a lot, lost a lot of the battles along the boards and were second to a lot of pucks on a number of occasions.
Two excellent golas for Podge and Jason that made the game interesting for a bit but I always thought that Panthers seemed to be playing within themselves a lot of the time.
Positives from the weekend were certainly the netminding displays from both Blair and Craig, who did reasonably well once he got over his initial nerves. It seems as if Blair has a slipped disc.
Podge looks reasonably skilled, does some good work in the corners and has decent stick handling skills and seems to work hard. He isn't the biggest of players and in both games this weekend he got physically pushed off the puck but on inital viewing he looks to be a good addition to the team.
I don't understand our thinking in just going with 5 D for the majority of the time this weekend. I know Danny isn't an out and out D but playing him back there with Tommy would allow the other two D units to stay together and then Caister and Keller would keep playing with each other for the whole of the game and Jamie would keep getting his regular ice time on the third forward line.
Finally fantastic to see a very large Flyers following this weekend and it shows the potential support that this team has, no other Scottish team has taken a support bigger than ours was this weekend to a league game in England. It also shows a lot of people what a Jekyll and Hyde team this is with our home and away performances but thankfully that was our last games against Erdhardt Conference teams away from home this season and if the game against Panthers was the first leg of the play off quarter final then we would be quite happy coming back with a two goal defecit all things considered but this weekend was more about damage limitation injury wise with bigger games to come over the next few weeks
