some excellent passes from pdge in front of the net, given a bit time (which we dont have) i think him and hogger will click together and provide some goals. thought jason was a bit tame tonight especially when smith challenged him behind the boards, is here near a ban again? i was surprised he didnt push back at all i thought Jason appeared to be going through the motions most of the night, possibly an injury but he just didn't seem up for it. He had a few words with both Hand and Smith throughout the night, which given the attitude of the Hull players I was sure we were in for a scrap.

Agree completely. If you don't like what you read on the forum, you don't have to visit. What I like about this place is the broad range of opinions and the generally knowledgable hockey folk that post on here. In fairness to Flyersrule though, I'm a little surprised by negativity surrounding last nights game too. I don't know if the addition of an eleventh import or our great home form this season has led to a significant shift in expectations, but I wouldn't suggest we are at the stage where a win and/or good performance is a formality in any given game. Sure, we've seen much better hockey at FIA recently and more fluent performances from the Flyers. But the Stingrays are bottom of the league and fighting like hell for a play off berth. They played a decent road game last night and, while they're not renowned for being physical, that side of their game rightly came through last night due to their situation. That made it a difficult game for us as we don't adapt to physical games as well as we probably should. However we came out of it with the points. When you're able to win ugly that's an encouraging sign. It's definitely progress on this time last year when we couldn't seem to buy a win. I'm braced for more of the same tonight. Coventry obviously are a physical team and their pride will be wounded by being turned over 6-2 by the Caps last night. That will make them dangerous opponents. But if we can emerge again with the win I'll be delighted.

Spot on, fighting Smith with a few minutes left in a game we were winning would have been pointless. The play-off push is going to go to the wire, we don't need guys sitting out suspended or picking up injuries in needless fights.

Game started out okay and had a good deal of intensity and a play off feel about it but that had more to do with the situation Hull find themselves in and fighting for their lives.
Overall a poor game and Flyers only turned up for the final 20 mins.
What is it with trying all this cross ice passing in the attacking zone, there are so many sticks and bodies to try and get through with a tactic like that. I also am not a fan of 4 forwards on our PP, its not working for me.
A win is a win at this time of the year though so will take that.
Surprised that Smith was allowed to stay on the ice after his brutal attack on Podge whilst he was lying on the ice, it looked like Smith speared Turnbull when he was down

I love reading and being a part of this forum. If it upsets you so much reading peoples opinions which don't agree with yours then why don't you log off. The forum would be a truly dreadful place if it was wholly populated by happy clappers. Lets face it last nights game was at the very best poor and its no surprise that most people have come on and said this.

I always thought it was a good thing when you don't play that well but still pick up the 2 points, if we lost I would understand the negative comments but move on, tonights game is important and the players and coaching staff know this.
It wasn't pretty by any stretch but 2 points in the bag.
Jason Pitton when Smith was trying to get him to fight, the grin told it all, no point in fighting for the sake of it.

I wasn't being negative, I was delighted with the win.
I just wish we would match teams physically sometimes, we have some players that can play with an edge and are actually better playing with that edge.
I'm not sure if they are asked to can it or not. I'm definately not saying Jason should have went with Smith, but I'm surprised no one stood up for Podge when he was attacked on the ground. (Keeper wasn't even in his crease when he collided with him)
I'm also surprised that no one stood up for Hogg when he was boarded in the 3rd. I did notice that a time out was called to calm the guys down by the looks of things.
Better performance in the 3rd, if you watch Todd's interview I think he sees the game, pretty much how we all saw it. Could have done better, but we are all happy with the 2 points.
Good luck tonight guys, Blaze will be hurting!

Just read through the last few pages here. Really hope the players don't come on this forum - some of the garbage spouted is laughable.
I wonder if some folk actually support the Flyers or just like a whine. We have 11 imports, some good brits and overall a very competitive team. Get a grip

Thing is coachbombay I'm sure one of the players did make comment when the Flyers own forum was shut down. I'm sure it was Jeff said somewhere that the stuff posted on the forum was really damaging to guys in the dressing room.

There was no point in Jason fighting anybody last night, apart from maybe getting a hand injury why would you fight Smith he is a big useless lump who couldn't go 2 rounds with a revolving door or Hand for that matter you could almost count his shifts for a season on your four limbs. Hull played a mean road game designed to keep their opponents score down and stifled Flyers attacking game, not a classic but 2 points gained and that's the game plan at the end of the day. Tonight v Blaze we will see a more fluent game with lots of hits and Mr Wilson there to add a bit of spice. lol
