Honest assessment of tonight's game. I think we totally dominated the first 40, we played a hard physical game creating countless turnovers in the offensive zone, cycling the puck well and creating quality scoring chances. However, we have got to take some of them yes Rio is a fantastic keeper but he was on his back on more than one occasion and we didnt get a shot away. That was ultimately to be our downfall. In the 3rd we killed the 5 on 3 brilliantly but a lapse in concentration gave them a 2 on 1 and it was good play by Bagron to set up Wirrl. Then Caister (who wears an A) decides to make the last 10 even harder. Stewie is pushing him away telling him to calm down and yet he keeps going and gets thrown out the game sure Stewie gave him a bollocking in the dressing room after the game. He should apologise to his team mates and be fined for his actions. Selfishness personified. Then I thought we got our act together and were the dominant team with Dundee opting to play a trap and try and hold on for overtime and a point. Then we blow a PP and to top it all of our best player makes a terrible play with 1 minute to go to lose us a hockey game we should have won. Stewie had a right go at Haines on the bench after the play. For me Smith should of been playing every 3rd shift for Gunny as he looked knackered towards the end. Smith is not some kid wet behind the ears he is a good young talent with elite experience and he would of given us some energy and given Gunny a rest. When Caister goes of I can't for the life of me understand why Stewie doesn't drop back on D and play with Keller to keep our D pairings the same and give Keller a RH/LH combo. Then you could of moved Hamish up onto the 2nd with Gunny centering the line and put Smith on 3. That way you still roll 3 D pairs and with Stewie and Keller on D you have a real attacking threat. I thought the guys had a good game tonight but once again individual mistakes cost us. Pitton looked to pick up a knock as did Caister so hopefully they recover well or we will be extremely thin. Another guy is needed to provide secondary scoring and give JD some service. He was excellent tonight and worked as hard as I've ever seen him in the corners so he should be cut some slack. Think you summed it up perfectly there. Was going to post my thoughts but you've said it all already. Sent from my HTC Desire C using proboards

What was Caister going mental at? Was there an incident leading up to the goal? I am hearing a lot of people blaming the ref tonight, but in all honesty I didn't think he was too bad. Certainly the first 2 periods he let the game flow, only incident I thought he got wrong, was the slash from Kris Hogg on Pat Bowen, Hogger should have been in the box for that. Bowen wanted to have a go with Hogg after it but Hogg knew not too. Haines penalty was a slash and I certainly think it was the right call by Wilson, even though that 5 on 3 was what ultimately cost us the game. We SHOULD have had that game dead and buried after the first 2 periods but we seem to be back to not being able to convert our chances. Crowd was certainly way down, I just hope that Danny and Todd really push for some extra bodies to be brought in. I'd agree Wilson had one of his better games. His calls were mostly ok, it's just the inconsistency that gets me. Well, that and twice blowing the whistle when the puck was loose and we'd a good chance of scoring. One thing Wilson did call wrong was our goal. That clearly was Derek's goal. He shot from the point and it certainly seemed to go straight in with no tip ins, but Casey was credited with it. I sit behind goal & was definately tipped in

Ross Venus and Lee Esders might have something to say about that but I do agree Horse he is a better player than quite a few of the guys on the roster and deserved some ice last night. Hopefully we see what he can do over the next few games.

We also have the likes of Robben Floyd & Dale Walker who should be up pushing for the chance I haven't Venus & Esders play....where are they from?

Looks like Smith is getting his shot on the third line.
