Rightly or wrongly bad language is part of society..it is and has been rife in school playgrounds forever..its not the words thats the issue for me but the vehement fury in how the words are delivered..I do not absolve myself from this though..i too can let my emotions run away with me at times..however thats what you get from sport..its only a game though and if i thought there was genuine hatred being spouted then i would certainly reconsider takin younger children to games.

Totally, we all get a little exited in the heat of the moment but to compare a ladies genetalia to the crust of a pizza, to offer her "good times" for want of polite words, tossing cups of beer and drumsticks across the crowd, it's certainly made me think twice! There were 2 14/15 year old boys to the left of us who were sniggering away, understandable they are teenage lads they'll grow out of it eventually. There was then my 9 year old and 2 9 year olds next to us that we'd met at the rink. I'll be picking my away games a lot more carefully in future, if I'm taking my son then I'll head to quieter games where we can sit away from the majority crowds so that he isn't subjected to it. I may be a little paranoid and some may think I'm overreacting here however I'd rather protect his innocence for as long as I can, he's not far off becoming a teenager and as my first and only born I'm dreading to think what lies ahead of me!

I don't condone swearing at games as hockey has always been a family sport in terms of the fan base. On a side note I'm sure your son will have heard far worse at school. It would be a shame for him to miss the big games due to a minority of fans behaviour, when in reality he's going to hear this stuff at school.

Was it bad language from Giants fans on Saturday? No Davie they were Flyers fans, I ended up sitting near one of them on the ferry home too, she seems to be well known amongst our Brit boys I cannot bring myself to repeat the language used however it was absolutely vile, there were sexual references and innuendos made towards the girls bringing out the vouchers and pizza from the tunnel too You get her number?

So your happy to let your kids watch guys knock lumps out of each other. But when it comes to some sweary words its the end of the world. Get a grip. Creased he understands that fighting is a part of the game, what is not part of the game is being vile, sexist, abusive towards others. THAT is my point, I do not want my son to grow up thinking it is OK to treat women with such disrespect. Perhaps you are happy with prostituting yourself out at games, perhaps your wife does not mind abusive language being shouted to her, each to their own, I know my self worth and I respect others. Perhaps if you had heard what was being said you would understand. Was I the only person to complain? No! Was I there with friends? No! The people around me who complained were those I'd met as we sat down. Like I've mentioned I am a newbie to the world of hockey, I've been going to games for 2.5 years with this season being the one I've attended most games, in fact all home games and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so that I've now joined the supporters club and like to get involved to support our team. It is sad that there are a minority of fans who ruin it for others.

Jambitink I'm sure he will hear a lot worse at school as he moves up the years, fortunately I am very involved at his school and it is not something that is heard of in the junior years.
