Great idea about playing u20 games before Flyers games on a Sat. Definitely something id support. In fact my mates and I discussed last year that junior hockey should be showcased more on a Sat before the Flyers. Public skating finishes at 16:00. May be struggling to fit in junior games in before the flyers warm up etc. Then you would need to charge for each separate game as juniors are nothing to do with the Flyers. You would also need to swap staff etc. Can't see that working. If a Fife team is part of this league then surely this would be something that can be worked out for the sake of all concerned

i would like to know how this league would be funded, bus travel around the country isnt cheap and what gate money would they get afrom under 20s games? for me it has to be funded from the elite teams budget and some kind of link with the games so fans come early or stay late to watch Personally I don't see why or how it should come from Elite teams budgets. There are a number of teams that are attending the meeting that have no ties with an Elite team. Why should teams that do have ties with Elite teams fund this, it is not an Elite league requirement that this league should happen, its an IIHF requirement that IHUK are trying to see through and I think that the points that you raise will need to be discussed at the meeting in Newcastle but I think you are right that teams that do have ties with Elite teams would be best to have links with Elite games but what about teams that don't such as Bradford if they decide to join Oxford have already said that they aren't putting a team into this league but want to attend the meeting to see what is being said and to be part of the process, maybe that is the outlook other teams attending are going with as well

The junior teams including u-20's already fund themselves. They pay weekly ice fees which covers ice times & buses etc. Might be different if Flyers took an interest with the junior development.

So the meeting to determine the make up of this venture was held in Newcastle today and the early indications are that 4 "teams" have expressed an interest in taking part
East Scotland West Scotland Swindon/Okanagan Sheffield
How the Scottish representative sides are going to determine who plays in this league or for their own clubs U20 sides will be interesting among other things.
Will this satisfy the IIHF criteria? How many times are they going to play each other and how often?
The press release to clarify everything will be interesting.

So it seems like a national U20 league is not now going to happen but the U20 league in Scotland will continue to run and be operated by SIH-UK with a similar league being run in England operated by EIHA with IHUK organising a finals weekend www.icehockeyuk.co.uk/-structure-propsed-for-u20-league-in-the-uk-p198191Will this be enough to satisfy IIHF and how have IHUK managed to work their way around the rules of a national league if it is By the way, nice spelling mistake in an official press release by the organisation at the head of the game in the UK
