I'm kinda glad that Flyers are acknowledging there is a bit of a disconnect with the fans - do something about it, it's all part of the PR and selling the match night debacle, that they dont do. I'm not buying that the fans dont recognise a stalemate is also a good hockey game, we do, but this wasnt. 2 0 down at the end of the 2nd, it was the team that was disconnected! To imply that North American fans would have seen that game as something else is BS. To be fair it was a 3 point weekend well done but there have been dismal performances and a lack of physicality. Could this be the start of Flyers actually engaging with the fans now they recognise it's a problem, let's hope so.

Todd could have done himself a big favour by simply saying it was a 3 point weekend without being at our best....without the need for all the North American drivel. I am delighted we managed to gain 3 points but disappointed and miffed that Todd told his players that they are alone on an island ( or words to that effect ). It stinks of a coach who has come in for a bit of criticism trying to make it into a ‘ them and us situation ‘ I think the 20 or so fans out of 1300 who boooed were entitled to show their displeasure at the end of the 2nd period as it was clear to all it was really poor fare. I was at the game, the 1st period was ok, the 2nd period was absolutely brutal, the 3rd period was really good. You can’t dress up how bad we were in that second period, I think we only had 5 or 6 shots on goal. There is a big difference between 2 good teams cancelling each other out ( as Todd suggested ) and 2 poor teams cancelling each other out. 2 good teams cancelling each other out can still lead to a skilfull, hard hitting, entertaining game but Saturday for the most part was none of these things.

Saturday was a borefest that the booing probably brought to life by means of a reality check, maybe the coaches / players will finally realise that playing hockey at Kirkcaldy is not a holiday break, the hard earned supporters cash that pays their lifestyle deserves a competitive team on show every week.

Some fair points there from Carlo but it's obvious that the fans who have watched BETTER hockey with less imports in the auld barn are very knowledgeable of the game, they also know things could be improved at Flyers. It's common knowledge that players are very well looked after at FIA and if they knew what fans sacrifice to watch the game we all love perhaps they would understand why there can be discontent in the building, NOBODY is asking the team to win all and sundry or apply for an NHL franchise .....but they do ask for committment and that's fair enough in my book.

What he said
“I don’t think we’re not on the same page,” Dutiaume said of the team’s relationship with the support.
“I think that there’s probably a lack of understanding between sides at times. “And that’s probably due to us, as an organisation, not having many fan engagement nights where the players are personalised. “Everybody seems to take umbrage to criticism too harshly in all aspects of life, not just in an ice hockey building.
“I simply said I disagreed with it (booing), because I’ve even watched it back on video, and we played quite good in that game. “In this day and age, with heavily system based teams, you find in a lot of situations, teams are cancelling each other out, but the level of skill required to do that is incredibly high, because a weak piece of that puzzle and it falls apart, or a guy makes a simple mistake, and the puck ends up in the back of the net. “Some of the games are free-flowing, which I know our fan base would love to see. “Other games are stalemates which, certainly to the UK fan base, is probably perceived as boring.
“Whereas, in a North American crowd, and remember we have a lot of North American players, that’s viewed as good hockey. “It’s finding that balance between being able to be competitive in a heavily systematic-based league, pleasing your fan base, and ensuring that you’re competitive in a market that has such varying degrees. “Expectations have always been high for this organisation, certainly from the coaching staff, as well as the fan base, but I would hope that the ultimate goal of the management, the ice hockey club and the fan base is to see this team successful.” After the OT defeat on Saturday, Dutiaume was delighted with his team’s response in Guildford on Sunday, a result which keeps Flyers perched in fourth place in the EIHL standings, three points off the top. “I said to the team, if you think anybody is going to feel sorry for you, and just tell you that it’s alright, you’re sadly mistaken,” he said.
“We’ve go to tie our skates up, go out tomorrow, play the same hockey game and grind out a result. “You can use those moments to feel sorry for yourself, or you can use them as a way to solidify the team as a cohesive unit. “I’m glad the guys chose not to be downtrodden on that long bus trip and pulled out a big two points.” Flyers are now looking forward to a busy week that will see them take on both Nottingham and Sheffield for the third time this month, before their first league games of the campaign against Belfast on Wednesday and Cardiff next Saturday. “That’s some powerhouses in this league, and a very big test for this club, but regardless of your league position right now, all teams in this league are good,” he said.

The Neutral The ones that don’t even go The ones that only have something to say when we lose The ones that are stuck in 80,s and don’t realise the game has moved on Cheers Couldn’t have said it better myself zamboni! The amount of times people talk about the handful of passed leagues the flyers played in and how great those times were are the same expecting those wild score lines and enforcers patrolling the ice. In today’s game. Yes the club is ran terribly and the hockey is not as exciting but we don’t spend the money like the big clubs do( as much money as tam has our highest salary earner is middle of the pack on the bigger clubs) , which doesn’t give us Brit depth( yes ours are under used but not to the capability of Brit depth around the big clubs) we are a middle budget team and we finish near the middle almost every year. Maybe one season we can finish in the top end of the table but it’s like European football, the same teams will always be at the top. Let’s face it we all know the coach isn’t going anywhere until he doesn’t want to do it anymore. Ultimately peoples qualms are heavily with the club and those who run it and how it is being ran in terms of match night, build up, promos for tickets , parking lot etc. these folk are using mistakes in a game and our drop in form to boo and yell obscenities at the games and let loose on social media which is just not constructive for the boys we are rooting for and going to watch every weekend.

Well Zamboni & bruinsfan if you guys are happy to watch 10 goals go past your goalposts, watch an inept coach trying to figure out a plan b during a match where for two periods you've hardly posted a shot on goal, linemates looking like they have never met, a PP that is at best pathetic and year on year watching the same old tactics you are easily pleased. I have been in other rinks in the EIHL and heard fans boo their team and guess what..... changes are made, i bet you TD & JH were probably not even spoken to after the 10 goal drubbing, for me they would have had to beg to keep their jobs that night, do you think that type of scoreline would have went unpunished elsewhere.

I find it funny that some on here think others are unhappy with Todd because of this season or poor performances the last few weeks. For me and hundreds of others (crowds are still dropping folks) its down to boring hockey for at least the last 4 seasons, same tired coaching same tired excuses same old b/s year after year. Last 2 off seasons have been an utter shambles something nobody on here or who supports this team can argue about. You can't pretend that hasnt impacted on numbers through the door each week.
It's been said before that the league and hockey have moved on and from a fighting enforcing point of view thats fair BUT being entertained at a hockey game hasn't. It isn't hard, it's a fast moving physical game that SHOULD have folk on the edge of their seat. Our coach seems to assume that fifers don't have a clue and only want goals galore and fights and that we are all too daft to understand the tactical side of the game and can't appreciate a close low scoring game. If you choose to blindly follow your team regardless of performance effort and level of excitement thats great but the harsh reality is that nearly 2000 empty seats at the last home game and on average the rink half full its not working.
The fact he has tried to pass the B/S off before proves how out of touch with reality he is. His brand of hockey is dire if it was a defensive system (left wing lock as an example) that allowed him to control games that's fine but it isnt its watching him being out coached his teams being out worked and out hit on home ice week after week season after season. Its watching good local guys being wasted over playing imports, its watching imports being over played and being unable to compete over a season because they are being asked to do too much. Its watching a club in KIHC continue as it has done for years produce some of the top young talent in the country for them to either leave the game or simple not stay at Fife because they all know there is no hope with Todd in charge.
Todd speaks about this being a results business well if that was true he would have been removed a long time ago.
The truth is we have owners who are happy to make up the numbers and dont have any ambition to push on and make the club the best it can be, We have a coaching team that are only in the job because they are local and are happy plodding along picking up their wages.
The club/team has no ambition to do anything if they did getting destroyed on home ice 10-3 would have been a much bigger deal that it was.
Fans have a choice to make continue going and spending your money watching poor hockey or stay away and watch the scores from home. The latter option is the more popular one at the moment and has been heading that way for sometime.
