Why is it nearly every season we start short of players We are being unfair to the players that are on the ice I just don’t get it It’s always us The game was a nothing game against Dundee I hate to think how it would have ended against top 4 Team Only season we actually had the boys in early and it worked was season 2 and you see how good that team was

The webcast presenters were saying that they were not to refer to players as imports but as something like non native players, like it wasn’t politically correct or something, what’s that all about?

Ran basically 3 lines. We had guys with little to no ice time in a pre season friendly....feel like I've said that before.

My honest assessment is, this was a friendly where one team was completely out of shape, clear some boys didn't play last season, need to find their feet and hands. Few weeks needed for this.
Thought Jamieson looked good, just as good as Caly Robertson who looked OK not outstanding, but key is he is getting the chance.
The boy Krogh hard to assess, his skating does not look great, he clearly has not played for good while.
Some of our young college boys look very light weight, and not that speedy but that will be lack of fitness.
Lescivs, Emmerdahl, Owen, Carter(great hands and vision), Adelgran, Chase, Naslund, Mackenzie, Peacock, all looked good, I can see the potential.
As I say my worry is once the fitness is in still some our boys are too lightweight for this league, and after all this was dundee not one the big arena teams. But we will see, for some this is their first taste if senior hockey, it showed.

Good assessment I agree we were easily knocked of the puck But fitness and skill will come out My fear is next weeks game v Giants It could be very painful to watch You could see Dundee had far more training sessions Hopefully we get the rest in quickly and up the anti on fitness levels

Dundee started their pre season camp on Monday, Flyers were on the ice on Mon/Tues.
Fitness doesn’t come from being on ice this week it comes from the months you put in before hand. Getting match fit and slowing down during the first game is what dundee did. Flyers looked painfully slow right from the start.
We looked very light last night boys getting knocked about a fair bit even our bigger bodies. Haas finished the game taking pretty big runs at Stadnyk. Sending a message that got no reply.
Can’t be too hard as others have said it’s been a long lay off for some and I said last night the challenge cup will be part of our pre season.
Early signs are concerning mind you.

Aye Haas taking a run at a few people ended with him taking his own guy Lahtinen out and to the room with a head shot - his run after that on Haas had to be called as elbows it was so high, just brutal - he is what he is - he wouldn't be in my team though. As regards being knocked about - our main problem was lack of speed and so we got caught on the puck way too much - we are not a physical team (understatement) but if can move our feet quicker there were signs that a number of these guys have good hockey IQ and are decent moving the puck - they will be harder to hit and get knocked about.

Nice review - I'm surprised that McNicholas is getting so little mention - to me he has the most promise and a player I think fans will take too very quickly. He wears #19 so anyone wearing #19 is gonna be great

Fife need a firecracker as their last import, it has to be a forward that can provide an element of physicality. Believe it or not i think gauthier might be the perfect fit on this team or someone of the same ilk.

Not saying he will be 100% like Ryan but saw glimpses.

What about those away strip nameplates could not make out the names from the stands, the numbers were fine but names terrible.
Certainly hoping tonight wee bit bigger ice some the young boys now know what to expect hopefully see more from them.
But certainly speaking from experience there is nothing can prepare you for ice fitness, and then match fitness is another level. But the hours in the gym pre season helps the quick recovery.
I actually thought Krogh was kept on the bench a bit, and it was the right move as he was the furthest away fitness wise. I really hope I'm proven wrong a dont want to judge him on last night, but just really feel for the new Kestrels signings Smith, the other Robertson could all do the same job and better.

My #19 reference was a Wings one 😜 That said he wears his helmet the same as Dingle with the visor covering his forehead most of the time.😂 Did well at the dot - look for lots of offensive zone face offs to be at the left dot of the opposition goals when we get the choice.
