Good to see an honest review, but to be fair the writing was on the wall in October and they never did anything about it. Disgraceful season and I cannot wait to see the back of every player in the squad. Burn the boats and start again.

New to the community of Fife, and love the game of ice hockey. Was wondering if someone could fill me in on the Flyers? Based on some of the previous comments its safe to say there are some unhappy fans. Honesty is much appreciated! Cheers

New to the community of Fife, and love the game of ice hockey. Was wondering if someone could fill me in on the Flyers? Based on some of the previous comments its safe to say there are some unhappy fans. Honesty is much appreciated! Cheers Flyers are the oldest hockey team in the UK (and one of the oldest in the world) They play in the same arena that they first played in, so its called a "barn", its old, its kinda crappy, but it has character and on a good night, it's a properly magic place to be. Historically flyers teams have been more about skill and speed, than size and grit. They have won a huge amount over the years, but in the new Elite League era, they are yet to win anything. Which is understandable as the elite league is split into the top 4 (Belfast, Cardiff, Nottingham and Sheffield) and then the rest. The gulf in money between the top 4 and everyone else is very significant. So in reality, finishing 5th in the league would be a tremendous result for the flyers as a best of the rest type win. Flyers main rivals are Glasgow and Dundee (makes sense right - other scottish teams) and also Manchester - mostly cause of the Manchester coach, everyone hates him - he was the coach in Glasgow for a while before going to Manchester. Flyers normally finish mid-table and make the playoff most years. This year has been a dumpster fire tho. I tend to think of flyers fans as people with years and years of experience watching hockey (like 30+ years of watching flyers is not uncommon) so they tend to be a more hockey-educated fanbase. I think Frank Morris (ex captain) said it in an interview that I heard - "Fife Flyers are akin to the Montreal Canadians" and thats a pretty good summary. What he means is a passionate fanbase made up of long term hockey fans, who want entertaining hockey and demand as a minimum to see players give it everything for the club. Flyers are a team close to a lot of peoples hearts and the badge means something up here. Goalies have been a strong point for most flyers teams in the last 10 years also, seems like we normally find real gems in net. As a business or a brand, flyers are woefully inept, lack skill and most importantly lack any desire to resolve it. If I am right, 2 men ultimately own the rink and the flyers team, and have done for years and years. They don't seem interested in brining the club into the modern era, or spending time and money on things like social media, content creation or fan engagement etc. Flyers are coached currently by Todd Dutiaume - a living flyers legend who played for the team for years (and won things) then became coach. ^ Thats prob a not bad intro into who Fife are.
