Jamieson confirmed as leaving for personal reasons. No idea of his reasons but that’s another young local guy leaving something that has been a consistent theme throughout Dutes time.

For personal reasons read "didn't get on last Sunday V Stars"? And yes a number of young guys have left but I can't think of one that is getting meaningful ice time in elite league. Maybe Reece but he's come back to get it!

As with all the boys we have seen during the elite years, with the exception of the boys who were there when they first joined. Flyers have never done enough to develop them or nurture a proper relationship for any talent on their doorstep. Talent is in short supply at this level, they are not willing to pay to have other brits brought in regularly, so short sightedness sees them with little options. Hopefully it's a 2 way and bridges can be healed.

Fife probably don’t do enough to progress and develop them, as someone else has said though, whose actually left and went on to play regular minutes else where in the league? The reality is the jumps just far too big from the SNL to the elite league, the size and speed especially. Personally I think to be in the elite league you must have an under 21 team, creating an elite under 23 or 21 league, they play before the first team, any extra imports can play, kind of like the old set up in the English premiership football had. Feel bad for the kid not getting his shot, but the set up in the UK doesn’t really provide any direct avenue to become a professional hockey player, and certainly not in Scotland.

I honestly just don’t think any young boys coming from kestrels or below are good enough to play 3rd line minutes in the EIHL it’s not Todd’s fault he doesn’t play them if every shift they go out and produce nothing effectively , I get they need to develop but we’re not at a point where we should play youngsters to develop them when were trying to prove we’re not a consistent bottom of league team develop at kestrels if your good enough your good enough if your not you’re not

This ain’t about guys moving on and staying in the EIHL.
This is about more than a decade of no players from age say ten till now making it. That’s ten years of no work with junior teams. Season after season of guys getting no ice time. Our coaches simply don’t know how too or just don’t want too develop young guys. Belfast can do it with their young guys so why can’t we.

Other teams put players into the elite league. Solway,Belfast and Dundee for a start.

Same old same old, been saying it for years they need to study and use models that are used in other countries from teaching and training youths right up to pro level, how to build there body how to eat right how to skate and give the kids techniques to do with a stick and make them practice at home to better there stick handling.
Just look at those 18 year old kids that came to play here against us from scandanavia those kids were taught all that and they were good enough to play pro hockey and didn't look out of place

When was that 7/8 years ago? I know one kid at Fife who is doing great and has a real chance to do something in this game. He is putting in the work off ice on his own (family support obviously there) the age he is now serious interest from head of the club should be there. Same with other guys at his age group. That’s the issue right there they should know who is coming through at each age group. BTW this used to happen at Fife the best guys were expected to break into the flyers by age 18.

Waterboy I asked Paul Thompson and thatsvwhat he told me, as I said to him how are those kids so damn good at that age compared to here.
We have an elite academy but what are they teaching them at it

Up to 16s we have one if the top junior set ups in the UK. And then it stops and they are pretty much on their own.

Do any of the coaches bother going to a Kestrels game or any other junior game? Or do they have something more important do do on a free Sunday night? It will soon get to the point that no juniors will waste their time sitting on the bench for the Flyers.

It's interesting if you go along to the Kestrels to see that they are having to use the best of those juniors, and it's clear to see even that step up is hard for them, playing against seniors. I'm afraid that like the Flyers the junior development has suffered from years and years of mismanagement where coaches were there primarily as they had sons in the set up, where the captains and assistants were thise sons and the pals sons of rhe coaches, and where teams allowed those superstar children to pick up the puck go end to end every shift to score goals. It bit them in the proverbial and those kids struggled when it came to senior hockey and have not succeeded at Flyers level. I'm sure they want it to be different now but they need to think less on success and more in coaching what will make all successful as they move to senior hockey. The cream will then rise. I suspect that Flyers who will in the end benefit or not, should have a big influence in this, but sadly they are mostly missing this opportunity.
