I think our best bet is getting something in Sheffield. Hopefully our new addition will help boost the squad and we can do what we have failed to do all season and pick up 1 victory down south! Looking forward to the road trip and a few points would be a bonus.

Can't see you beating Sheffield in the house of Steel and certainly can't see you beating Nottingham at the N.I.C

I hope the team put up two robust defensive displays to protect Blair.

The biggest thing is we come out of the games without further injuries or suspensions.

We played quite well at Ice Sheffield when we lost 4-2 there earlier in the season and it was a typical Flyers road game, start slow, go behind, chase the game only to conceed a late empty net goal.
I suspect it may well be the same scenario on Sat but we have given Steelers good games this season and they haven't been that special when we have played them so if we are going to get anything this weekend it will be on Sat.
Listening to Todds interview after the Stars game on Tuesday there almost seems to be a resignation with him and the team that we are not going to put a lot into games against teams from the Erdhardt conference on the road and will be looking at our home form to get us across the line and into the play-offs

Which could be a big mistake, taking 2 points in Sheffield could be the difference between winning of losing the conference. Think everybody will agree that's our best chance to pick up points this weekend. Steelers play a style which we can cope with Panthers well that's a different story but if the caps can do both why not us!

Winning against Steelers or panthers makes no difference to our conference though, its only over all league position, where that would be hugely important

Solid 3 periods each game and we may surprise ourselves. Personally i dont expect anything but a win would be outstanding. If we win on the saturday I Probably wont make the sunday though. I'm just going for a good time with my pals. Anything else is a bonus. ETA - weather permitting. just looked outside. hopefully buggers off soon

The League/Conference system seems to have caused a lot of confusion amongst fans. Goalie is right- games against Southern teams don't count towards the Conference table.
It's not just fans though- there is a question on the official Fife Flyers facebook page asking if fans would prefer to win the Conference OR have a higher play-off position!! It's already been pointed out on the thread by a few posters that winning the Conference is what gives the Gardiner teams their highest possible play-off position (2nd or possibly 3rd) but it's obvious from other replies that a lot of folk don't realise that either.
What I want this week is no more injuries and for the fans who travel to have a good time.

yup defo don't need any new injuries, first and fore most i want us to make the playoffs, then winning the conf would be great, and making the playoff weekend would be fab but that all depends on where we finish in the league

I think we'll do ok against Sheffield then put in a typical Sunday performance. Looking forward to the trip down (weather permitting).
I'll be happy if we come out of the weekend without any collateral damage. These 2 teams are chasing a league title so will be going for the jugular in every game they play.

What happens if you win your conference but finish 9th in the league? Do you still make the play offs?
