i also think that is a great signing dundee getting mckenzie Possibly. It depends on how he's used I feel. Clearly he produced at Edinburgh, but obviously Cardiff didn't feel he produced for them. He took a while to settle in for us but as the season drew on it he became better and it was becoming clearer he could produce.

Stars have certainly started early in their recruitment and have added some good British players, I just wonder if that will come at the cost of a reduction in the money they have to spend on imports? Despite some indifferent performances last year I think Dolan moving on is a loss to the Flyers. We also appear to be dragging our heels again while others get on with it!

Huffy underperformer and sounded like Danny had issues with him. That'll free up some of our budget. We do need to strengthen the brit core. I see Dundee are going for 2 year deals as well.

No surprise Dolan has gone back to Dundee and really no big loss IMO either. He wouldn't know the corner of a rink if you planted him in one and asked him where he was.
As long as Dutes and Danny have plans in place to cover the loss of Hamish and Dolan I am not too bothered with him going back.
I presume Dolan was one of the ones told at the end of season players/coaches meeting that he wasn't wanted back hence the quick signing with Stars

I'm not so convinced of that argument. In McKenzie and Swindlehurst they have signed 2 pretty dedicated players. McKenzie signed for us last year because he didn't mind the travelling and just wanted to play hockey, even if it wasn't Elite hockey. It is our biggest problem signing Brits because it is rare to find a player who, for EPL salary, is committed enough to travel a great distance. Swindlehurst turned down Erdhardt teams and no doubt higher salary offers in exchange for the promised ice time in Dundee. Again, shows commitment of the guy. Dundee are signing players who's sole interest is to play hockey and earning money is a bonus side to the job rather than the other way around where you get coasters who just see it as a pay cheque

How many points did the rest of our local guys score combined? When you consider we've already lost Hamish, this is a massive blow to the teams depth.

I'm looking forward to seing Swindlehurst to be honest. If the kid gets a good sized import D alongside him, they would be a formidable D pairing in the Gardiner conference.

It also makes a local rival stronger and that is on the back of already improving their brit pack. We have basically lost our two best british forwards whilst Stars have added two stronger forwards than they had last year!

I guess it looks like we will be staying with our locals and trying to bring some through. From what I have seen in the Kestrels though we will have to wait a year or 2 at least. Flyers will have to start with 11 imports. If we start with 11 then we should hopefully be competitive.

totally agree there is a few bright stars coming up the ranks in kirkcaldy from the kids right up to the kestrels, but i dont feel there is anyone ready to play for the flyers next year, maybe another year or so yet, but we need to give some guys a shift or two this year , perhaps a golden oportunity here to have todd train the kestrels if he is stepping back a bit from the flyers
