Hi. Not sure if I have put this in the correct section but...... Does anyone rememeber Winnie the Witch? Me and my dad have been speaking about her and was just wondering what happened to her? Asked some Caps fans and they didn't know who I wS speaking about haha Someone mentioned she could support Dundee now?

If she was a Dundee fan we'd know about it I guess!

She was, and maybe still is, a nurse in the Western Hospital in Edinburgh. Have to say, she helped look after my wifes grandad when he was there, and once she realised we were Flyers fans, the banter was brilliant.
She was absolutely top notch, and a really good laugh.
Yes she had her moments at the Hockey, but we all do :-)
Although, my fondest giggle memory was when Hanson and Pennycook played for us, and she was giving Moray absolute pelters as he went off the ice in between the periods, and Jimmy P leant up, grabbed her coat, and nearly pulled her through the barriers at the front row shouting at each other, was hilarious :-)

I remember the night in the hotel across from Murrayfield when she came I to the bar just as Ronnie Plumb had made a comment about Tony breaking a finger. I think Ronnie found her a tougher opponent than any he faced in ice hockey. Paul Pentland and her were passionate supporters of their sons. Quite right too though they were more vocal than the others.

Ronnie for me was the best D man i've seen at Kirkcaldy and that includes Milan and Al Sims. He put a few hits on Tony when others were scared to make a pratt of themselves trying to do it.

Best hit ever on Tony was last year at Coventry in the EPL Finals. Mr Greener of Slough Jets put a hit into the boards like I've never seen. I nearly wet myself jumping up yelling in delight. Fair to say to say the Bracknell fans found my reaction extremely amusing too haha. I was so excited, I nearly spilt my beer!! And after the match, Greener was my target as I went and bought him a pint for making my day :-)
One of the best hits I've ever seen, Cingel was about to try and start something with Greener, but in Tony's defence, he pushed him back saying the hit was fair (he did also say he'd never been hit like it before too though)

Tony is only in his 40's. His mum remarried a Welshman, She is 100% Scottish, and now lives just ourstide Edinburgh. I'm told she is still a regular at Murrayfield but is a lot less vocal.

Yeh I've seen her at a couple of games, away from the rink she was good craik, in it she more than lived up to her title.
Davie, Ronnie played against Tony in the mid-eighties when he was at his best and was harder to hit than spotting the invisible man, he made everybody look stupid that tried to take him out until the Plumber came along, Tony was easily the Wayne Gretzky of the British game and nobody has come close to him........................ yet. ;D

Yup, that is very true. Its quite a good Wikipedia Article on him if anyone is interested. He was the master of avoiding what in those days, was the old two line pass, we just couldn't handle him. Was fun though, on the games we got under his skin, throwing his hands up in the air in frustration lol en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Hand

His stats are very interesting, look at when he played for Victoria. Only 3 games in the WHL, but 8 Points.....and he openly admits he got it wrong by not sticking it out there.
He would definitely have made the grade at the time, as you say, a classy player (even if I did, and do still, call him Jofa Pea Head )

Tony Hand in his heyday was virtually unplayable, best british player ever by a mile. He seemed to play the game on a different level than those around him, always seemed to have so much time and be in so much space and his finishing was deadly.
I'd have him as our coach anyday.

That's got me twitching....... Tony Hand at Fife....... He nearly did it before, then changed his mind, I just don't think we'll ever see him in a Fife jersey, or behind the Fife bench. Surely, the Universe would just end....... ;D
