I don't particularly want to respond any more so this will be my last comment regarding this but there's never an excuse for sexism and misogyny, especially when that excuse is as flimsy as calling it "banter". This is especially true in an ice hockey forum where families are essential to the sport surviving in this country. I make no apologies for calling you out on it.
As I tweeted to Slapshot Scotland, Kirsty Longmuir leaving the Clan is disappointing in that she was one of the very few female figures in the sport, not just in the UK. There needs to be more.
I hope we can get this conversation back on topic.

It's absolutely no different than puck bunnies who only attend games because they fancy the players. Please give yourself a 10 minute nonsense penalty!

banter can be an excuse for unacceptable behaviour. I agree with Jon. My last post goes for you as well.

Seriously, can we not have a political discussion? There is absolutely no need to derail another thread.
Three people (me, justafan and admin - at least!) thought the comment was not appropriate. Because we found it inappropriate we're dead inside?
Grow up, man. Your point of view isn't the view of everyone, please learn to respect others.

I've never heard anyone else in a similar position in UK hockey get so much praise for 'doing a great job'.
I'd like to know from those that think this- why? Exactly what was her remit at Clan and what was she doing so well?
Not saying she wasn't doing a good job, just curious as to why so many folk think she was. My honest perception was that a lot of the praise she got was because she was young, female and blond. That is not sexism on my part by the way and as I say- she may well have done well for Clan.
I also very much doubt if she was pushed that anyone would be saying as much. There does seem to be a lack of clarity about what she's doing next.

No. I don't see why everyone else should be boring just because some nonsense offends you when it's not even remotely offensive. Why don't you grow up and respect that others aren't overly sensitive like you are and wish to engage in harmless banter instead of trying to s**t on everyone else's fun? For your own good, please, never ever go on SteelTalk or the Cage because you will expose yourself to 100x worse than here. You also failed to address my question . . . if you condemn a comment about Kirsty as sexist, surely you will also openly condemn any form of reference to the players' looks by females? Can't be biased now can you? Admin: No need to be so aggressive, locking this thread before the bans start getting dished out.

Kirsty was involved with the club from the get go, she did a hell of a job promoting the club to a new fan base and to try and attract the fans of past teams in West of Scotland. At times she was in the office herself and did probably the work of 2 or 3 folk, she will always be respected by us fans. No matter if she was male or female she did good when she was here. Now it's her time to move on and I for one wish her well. I now feel the club will move on with the many new higher profile sponsors coming on board a long with existing sponsors, the recent club PR saying gong to be working closer with Intu Braehead (shopping mall/arena) to grow the fan base can only be welcomed. And thanks to Kirsty for getting us here.

I'd agree with that. From what I read of it, it's sounds pretty much like any other kind of leave by a high-up person - thanks for your efforts, however, we think the current arrangements have taken both parties as far as they can do and it's in the best interests of both parties to separate on good terms.

Who knows the right reasons tbh. But a new approach and direction can't be bad either tbh.

Why don't you grow up and respect that others aren't overly sensitive like you are and wish to engage in harmless banter instead of trying to s**t on everyone else's fun? For your own good, please, never ever go on SteelTalk or the Cage because you will expose yourself to 100x worse than here. Can't be biased now can you? For God's sake, man, why can't you appreciate that other people with different backgrounds and views read this forum? Did you really need to add the term "faggot" into your post, an offensive term to many? You're doing yourself no favours. If this is your precious "banter" then it's probably not worth fighting for. It's bloody awful. To answer your question: No. And that is because a male's players looks are not perceived as being that persons sole value. To some, that is all a woman exists for - comments like the "banter" in the first page push that idea. Women, children, gay men and other people view this forum. This forum is not YOUR playground. You're not down the pub with your mates. Because somewhere else is worse doesn't mean that I'm not going to call you out for posting things I deem inappropriate. You might find me boring, but I quite clearly couldn't care less. Deal with it.

At risk of tying this to the other argument going on - being a woman made her stand out more. Ice hockey (in the day-to-day running, playing, coaching GMing) is a "man's sport". You'll get exaggeration on both sides, misogyny and also exaggerated praise. Until there's more women in the sport that'll always be the case. From what I can see, the commercial stuff seemed to be pretty good with the Clan - had a great number of sponsors and her PR seemed decent. I don't know her involvement in the shambles of players being ditched etc and going through 25,000 imports, but that was also on her watch.
