What is the point of having Chad Smith and Cally Robertson on the bench, if they aren't getting on last night they are never going to get on. And btw I thought Reece Cochrane was excellent in his shifts last night, and gave the crowd a wee boost.

Ask Todd Dutaime or maybe read about it in his new book "Play British Players, Don't Make Me Laugh" the follow up to the best seller "British Ice Hockey, My Part in it's Downfall"

This years on Todd’s head in my opinion, good start to the year, failed to address the changes needed in D, over plays guys, doesn’t play brits that are proven in the league, injures due to not being physical enough (rightly or wrongly) and now the slide begins. We’ll be lucky to make the playoffs.

Changes are needed however that's not going to happen as he's the cheap option.

Our outgoing are far less that the arena teams as well, but that’s not even the point, no one talking about winning the league, it doesn’t cost any extra money to play your full bench and, recruitment wise to spend on what fans want to see and not small fragile players. And the costs aren’t huge to replace a couple of under performing players as the season goes on.

Chad Smith, "A" for GB U20's and scoring goals for them yet cannot even get on the ice after goal number 7 went in. He is capable of playing in this league and is being held back by TD. No excuses about the game being too physical to "throw him in". Two of the hardest workers in the team as Brits - Buesa and McKenzie - and they hardly iced last night. Are they carrying injuries? Yes, young players developing will make mistakes but that is how they learn.

If we are a "Gate money" team to get by, why do we have a coach who produces insipid hockey that drives people away. Should we not employ a coach who produces a hard working fast and physical team when required. Get that and the fans will come back. We are the only team in the league who are powder puff and I don't think everybody is out of step bar us. The use of Brits is beyond comment.

I’m not saying let’s sign an out and out enforcer again but compare the crowds and atmosphere today to when we had Nickerson, night and day, those 2 seasons the rivalry with the clan and the atmosphere in the building was unbelievable, it’s like a library now and not much happens on the ice to create much in the stands.

Said this many times before, Cardiff have an entertaining team (yes their budget is above ours) but and this is the key point they have a mix of players so they can play any style of game skill physical fast and fight if needed. Thats a team I would happily pay to watch every week.
Now even with all the talent they have and the good owners new rink etc etc they still push ticket sales game after game, to the point the GM is calling around corporate fans selling off tickets every week.
The flyers have treated their fans like c*** for years and loads simply just don't go these days (not been myself in months) throw in sub standard boring hockey it's not a great recipe for big crowds.
Brits and Todd ... nothing but a joke always has been. The guy simply cant or wont develop a single player. Every single brit on the team should move away especially the young guys they don't have a chance with him running things.

Most contributors on this forum have more gumption than TD, I don't think for one moment he has not looked at the pages on here and after all the well documented observations still hasn't taken anything in, the lack of cohesion between the club and supporters is immense apart from the happy clappers of course.

That could be where the problem lies, the owners are happy with the 1000 or so happy clappers that buy season tickets year on year no matter what team they put on the ice.

I would really like to see the post game interviewer ask Todd after each game (as applicable) "Why did you not give the Brits some ice time tonight?"

Ali McLaren will never ask Todd a controversial question, we rib him all the time to do so but he says he can't, what he really means is he won't because he likes being a part of the inner circle too much.
