What a weekend! Last month we were edged out in close games where we deserved better. This week we got some of that back. In both games I thought we were the better team but only just. Nottingham pose a very different problem to Guildford, being far more physical, but far poorer to watch. Guildford look to outclass you whereas Nottingham look to wear you down. That said, Nottingham do have some very good players and it is an effective method. Todd and Hutchy have to take significant praise for putting out a team to deal with both. High praise has to go to the players too. Not a single one had a day off. Really pleased Basara got MoM. His goals and performance level in recent weeks has rocketed. The Defence were immense. We all know how classy Owen is and he was again. The D have been reduced to a small pack and maybe don't gave the best pedigree, but they are becoming the hounds from hell. Wolfing up minutes and go after everything thrown at them. And there is nothing agricultural about the Bul and Gauts partnership! They have simply owned the ice this weekend. I take no pleasure in hearing about any player being injured. We have spent the last couple of months watching teams roll up here and look to injure our players with little or no protection from the authorities. If Lee has a broken jaw, I sincerely hope he is gets better and back on the ice soon. Refereeing was better. I thought they got the first OT goal right and although they missed a few, it was a far better performance from the stripeys. There have been times when the Flyers have been too hot to handle this weekend. Keep it going for the next few weeks please! I dont like seeing players in any sport getting injuried either but if you go looking for it you have to take what comes, same thing happened to a Hull player number of years back when he picked a fight with Tommy Muir, Flyers players are no soft touch but that is what some think in this league “He deserves what he got” clearly never had a pair of skates on. Were you not crying in an earlier post that panthers “don’t play fair and square” and now you’re talking about a guy deserving a broken jaw, unbelievable

Stevie Lee is a lad that has had numerous fights in hockey games and will know injuries can happen, nobody in the rink ever thought they would see Bulmer in a bout though. It was rumoured in the rink last night that Stevie was away to the Vic with a possible fractured jaw and going by the attention Bulmer was getting from Lepine and the entire Panthers bench at the end of his shifts it appeared there was some substance in the claim. Best wishes to the lad and don't be surprised if you see him on the ice with a goldfish bowl, it wouldn't be the first time, he's made of strong stuff.
On another subject Rissling should not see another game this season after his antics with Barry but we will just have to see what DOPES say to it this week.

And yes you do have to accept coming second might happen but he was doing his job and does not deserve a broke jaw, he never done anything over the line, was I glad to see Bulmer step up and handle him? Absolutely. Fabulous to be back, cheers.

I'm sure the highlights can't be released until DOPS have reviewed Rissling's incident and passed judgement, if it is indeed being reviewed.

Seems to totally ignore the follow up to the cross check where he lifts Barry up and slams him face first into the ice. Two games rules him out of the remaining regular season game and the first playoff game. Should have been a 3 game ban minimum.

They really need to find another name for DOPS..Department Of Player Safety, yer having a laugh. If it’s main concern was player safety then Rissling should have been out for the season. Checking to the head when the player is face down on the ice, c’mon, then not content with that he had a second go against a defenceless opponent. Bari was very fortunate not to sustain a serious injury in what was a savage attack, but what is clear from the lenient puishment handed out is that it’s more important to the buffoons at DOPS that the Panthers have every chance of reaching the finals weekend rather than protecting players from such thuggery, disgusting.

Watcher I think you nail the problem. Either DOPS have chosen to ignore the second part of the attack on Bari McKenzie or it has not been pointed out to them.
Continuing to assault a player who cannot defend themself had to be taken into consideration. It's there in the footage.
I do not know the rules that DOPS must operate to. I do not know if the refs or relevant clubs must detail what the issue is for it to be considered. If neither the Flyers or the match officials make mention of the second part where Bari's head is forced towards the ice can it be deliberated on by DOPS?
In fairness to DOPS it is hard to see in the footage if Bari's head does hit the ice in the 2nd part of the assault. In fairness to both the refs and Flyers it does look obvious. The refs and Flyers may however have to make that part clear.
This is now the 3rd incident to be reviewed by DOPS involving the Flyers recently and the 2nd where video evidence varies from their DOPS account (Stofflet being punched first being the other).
The Flyers need to learn exactly how to present information to DOPS and really should be asking for assistance on this. A thing they may well have already done.
From a DOPS perspective, they really need to explain their thinking throughout the 3 recent incidents and not just sit quiet as they surely will. If only the FFP were interested.
I cannot argue with anyone that feels the Elite League is just that - a league for an Elite. Sporting competition has to be about respectful rivalries and fairness. I'm not convinced that respect or fairness is being applied here.

A Match Penalty automatically carries a 1 game suspension so to only add one more to a repeat offender is nothing less than a joke, when you consider the Stoflet punishment this proves beyond a shadow of doubt that the system is corrupt and indefensible.
