The nault attempt wasn’t a goal (I think) going on the slow mo they showed. It hit the post and along the goal line.
I said before the game only one player in the flyers lineup could give us a fighting chance. And Owen sadly crumbled like a 70 year olds hip.
Making the playoffs holds no interest to me. What’s good about scraping into 8th to just have to get whipped by the giants again.

If the guy is getting played every game even when we are getting hammered it has to catch up with him sometime

Controversial, the biggest disappointment for me, and not for the first time, was Philips. His passing and speed was shocking and Giants had got wise to his favoured setup position.

I thought he was 40 he’s so slow. He’s only 30. Either unfit to play (in which case don’t play) or really out of shape, OR (total guess but it’s my hunch) has issues outside of hockey making him not care for a second about trying

Same old same old, defence making poor decisions and too slow with them. All season it's been the same.

Shot ourselves in the foot tonight but also had a bit of bad luck along the way. Belfast goals 2 and 4 should have been disallowed for offside and goaltender interference but no excuses for the terrible mistake on the SH counter at the end of the second. We also gave up so many grade As tonight which was very disappointing given the defensive performances we put on against Sheffield a few weeks ago where we really limited odd man rushes and shots from the slot. We ran out of gas in the third which is credit to the Giants for wearing us down but also a result of not given Bari Reece or Henderson a regular shift during the game this meant our imports were knackered.
Give credit to big Chris Lawrence might not have been his best season but he was our best player tonight and did a great job out there for us.
Hopefully we can learn from this experience and grow the team over the offseason. We will of hopefully made a good bit of money from this cup run and I presume we are entitled to 50% or the gate profits tonight as a reward for reaching the final.

What was 8 thinking passing to 7 when he had two Belfast players n him? That's been No 8's problem all season, he doesn't think. That was a suicide pass, I was screaming at the TV saying just keep possesion of the puck for the last 12 seconds of the period and catch your breath, then go for it on the PP at the start of the 3rd.

Glad to see Henderson Spence and Page get ice in the 3rd but Little should have finished the last 5 minutes for me It was a tough ask and the short handed goals didn’t help Think Nault scored and tbh there were a few random calls I’m not saying we would have won but it might have been closer I thought Nault wraparound went in too. No idea why they didnt check it. Ref was talkin **** all night. Said Lawrence and Lake skated backwards into eachother. I'd defo like to see that again. Looked a bad hit from Lake who was skating forwards and could have avoided it. Dutes said Lawrence has concusion. Like you say, I don't think we would of won but the refs definitely didnt do us any favours. The coverage by Viaplay is really poor. They regularly do not replay the key moments even when they have cameras covering it. When they do they cut the replay off mid way through! I knew more about what was going on with the "offside" goal than either of the two commentators. Ref Dalton wasnt interested in anybodys opinion except his own and any review he was involved in was a waste of time.

I think there some harsh comments on Owen on this. He is one of the best keepers in the league he got left hung out to dry on their goals tonight. Yes our D are not physical enough, but that's not the issue tonight. The team as a whole took too many chances trying to push the issue they should have played far more defensive. Especially getting back to two goals in it twice. That's where the coaches have picked the wrong team or coached wrong too open against best team in league. They also looked knackered, no depth again coaches fault. That been said they have done well to get there with most likely a fair bit of luck and Owen keeping us in it in Sheffield. Refs were poor. When I read some of the comments on FB and on here it's clear that some folk just don't get it what it's like to be out in your feet against a vastly superior team, or to make a mistake with best of intentions under pressure. There was no lack of effort.

He’s not one of the best this year. He is bang average. 9th (for goalies with more than 10 games player) best save % is not being one of the best. 90.90 is not exactly all star stats. Yes he makes big saves in some games, but he’s not a league leader this season in any regard. In fact he is on track for his worst season in the league this year.
Yes, he needed help and didn’t get it. But at least 3 of the 9 goals he allowed was all on him. The wrap around, the wrister from the point where particularly bad.
Not sure many people have said anything about the effort from the team in that game, they all tried hard, except maybe Philips. And as others said - Larry in particular gave it everything.
We ultimately made this final thanks to Glasgow getting 0 points in the group stages, and then battling hard against a steelers team whose wheels are falling off.
I’m glad the boys made a final, as it’s great for the fans. But losing like that hurt. Mostly cause I felt like we could have competed with them had Owen been flashing the leather like he has done in some games earlier this season.
If you listened to Todd’s post game interview you would have heard that he explicitly said they practise not doing the very thing that cost us the first shortie.
Bottom line - this is a forgettable squad and I hope we start over fresh next season. Keeping any of the import d would be a mistake, not a single one of them have had pass marks this season.

As sad as it is I can’t not agree with everything here. Owen has had his time. Settled down here, (easy pay check)as for the squad again total rebuild required again for next season.
