Like Coolen says hard work starts now. Need to build a team identity and begin to have an idea on lines and partnerships from day 1:
I would like to see us build as follows:
Forwards:
TLJ New Centre osterberg
Humitz New Centre Chiodo
Pulkinnen Pavlovs New British Wing
Spence Pilon New British Wing
Defence:
New New
Giles Makela
Emmerdahl/Poteau and Craig Moore
British signings are key for the third line British forward would like us to go out and look at someone like Finlay Ulrick thought he was hard on the forecheck for the steelers and is a good age to kick on and improve with ice time. For the fourth line we could look at someone like Caly Robertson or Jordan Buesa. One thing is key is we need a fourth line that can play 3/4 shifts a period. Pilon could then play more of a gritty style and also move on to the third line if we decided to cut to 3 when chasing.
Might be a pipe dream to get TLJ and Osterberg back but until their departure is confirmed would have them up on one with a new centre.
Ericsson is a lovely hockey player but his legs are failing him at this stage of his career and I would therefore, let him go. Shirley hasn’t done enough in the second half of the season to warrant another contract.
I would keep one of Emmer or Poteau. Certainly not both. I would say Emmer is more consistent but Poteau has potentially more upside when he plays physical. Not sure if he was carrying an injury the last few weeks but he wasn’t on his game of late. One thing is for sure we need a top line D pairing that is brand new someone in the Ian Young mould and a Matt Cohen type would be ideal.
I would also bring Owen back in Nets. He knows the league and yes he has his off nights but so does every goaltender. Listen to how other coaches talk about this guy. Would like to bring a second NM in to take some of the load off though
Interesting times ahead but a full time Brit is a must there’s just not too many high quality ones around right now.

Almost fully agree with this. Don’t think Osterberg will be back sadly. Skated around the rink a couple of times taking it in. Fully expect Coolen to dip into the Usports market again. Two of his big successes (Laj, pouteau) came from there and I’d be surprised if they were at the higher end of the scale of earners in the team. It’s all very good cherry picking the players we want back but the reality is that all the current guys we retain will be wanting a payrise and so we will need to take a stab at a few early career pros. Assuming we can hopefully keep 8-10 of the guys I’d like the remainder filled up with some experienced players (late 20s/30s) with good European/ECHL experience) and a couple of college grads with strong upside. Usports has brought some of the most exciting players of recent years to the EIHL and Coolen definitely seems to have links to the market there. Exciting times ahead. I’m going to say we set a record and have our first signing announced by 1 May!

Played for him in Slovakia and think he was signed in Dundee prior to Coolen. Then again there might be a reason he’s not on a coolen team for whatever reason! Just a thought rather than a rumour/source.

Amazing news about Coolen. An early signing or 2 would boost season ticket numbers. Would anyone like to also see an enforcer type sign for the 3rd or 4th (wishful thinking) lines? Or happy with going down the skilled players route? Hopefully if Laj and Pouteau were not paid like high earners a boost in their wage might tempt them to stay. As Coolen said... he knows a good place when he sees one and surely the players see that too

I would be happy enough with physical hard always finishing his checks kinda player. Although if able to drop the gloves when necessary would be advantageous

As Coolen said... he knows a good place when he sees one and surely the players see that too Give me a power forward over a knuckle dragger every day of the week. Someone who can play but can smack someone about when the need arises. I'd like to hope the reception last night after the game potentially turned a few heads back to Fife. Guys like Lajeunesse and Osterberg would be massive to come back and I'd like to think it's not out-with the realms of possibility. Going to a team like Steelers/Giants, it's easy to disappear into obscurity. Give them a bump in wages and they're first line players with important roles on the special teams in Fife. Plus they love their golf. Max and Casey were in my school a couple of months ago and when the kids asked them why they signed for Fife, both said golf at almost the same time so obviously plays a big part. I'm more optimistic for next year than I was for the season just passed. Coolen came in late and had to deal with the cards he was dealt - quite obvious there were a few returnees from the TD/JH season prior that Tom didn't rate, and was playing catch-up with what players were left in the market. We should also be better financially with the massive increase in crowds (23% increase, if I remember right). Feel-good factor is definitely sitting with me right now.

Need to push the boat out for a Brit forward and D man. Mac Howlett or Jordan Cownie would do the job up top, Craig Moore on D would be a decent pick up.

I don't have much disagreement with any of this. Looks like Osterberg is away to Belfast. The only other one I would have an argument with is Owen. I think this has been his worst season consistency wise with us and think he is on a downward spiral. I wouldn't mind Samala full time, I did like the look of him when he played, and if Owen is back then the duties need to shared more evenly

I don't understand the Owen bashing on here. The man has stood on his head for us, for years. Yes he's not been as consistent as we've come to expect from him, but I firmly believe that's down to 2 factors: 1, his injury and 2, he's got a 3 month old baby now. That's bloody hard work and his world has been turned upside down as a result, and probably sleep deprived. Before December he was still top of his game, as I'm sure he will be come next season again.
That being said, the game has moved on and I agree that we need a proper tandem, someone skilled enough to share the responsibility with him and that's not Little unfortunately.
