Well, that's a wrap. Season's over.
Enjoy your summer folks, thanks to everyone that has contributed to the discussions this season and (for the most part) remaining civil.
Thanks to those that provide match night updates for those that can't make it, especially stirlingflyer.

Thanks once again stirling. I hope you all have a good summer. Looking forward to all the rumours etc on the "summer" threads. It's 31c in the shade here so time for a cool caña.

Dreadfulstandards should be called in. me of pantomime hockey which was no way in my humble opinion a good way to finish the season.
Either play the game like you mean it or don't play it at all.
What a waste of a couple of hours Trading standards should be called in.

These kind of games are always nothing games, fans don't want them, players don't want them. It looks like the league are the only people that do want them and want them so much that they apparently threaten teams with a £10,000 fine if they don't play or play with a weakened bench, how they determine that is anybody's guess

First time at playoffs. Wish Flyers fans had advised on this forum or Facebook that today's game was going to be a farce. Geordie Munro was the highlight of today. If these teams are going to play an exhibition game - should have been free.

To be fair if you'd asked about the 3rd /4th place game people will have to said it's a waste of bloody time!

The flyers fans in section3 including some that had been at the finals previously thought they would play for pride and not like they couldnn't be bothered. Ironic that it went to overtime, not what either team would have wanted. Would go back again though but would only buy day 2 ticket if Flyers reached the final. Clan-Sheffield game was good though. Glad I skipped the final and came home early

I would go again to see the Flyers play in a semi-final, like the post above I would only buy a ticket for the final day if Flyers made it through.
As for the 3d/4th place game ......................utterly pointless and a total waste of time. You know if this game was played in front of thousands of people, none of whom had ever seen a game of ice hockey they would maybe think that it was jolly good fun. But to present this garbage to a crowd of hardened hockey fans many of whom have spent a great deal of money attending what is meant to be British ice hockeys show piece event is just unbelieveable. I say this as someone who left after the first period to go to the pub and came back in with 10 mins to go. I feel cheated by that game.

Totally agree. Sat through it, didn't even cheer the teams off. Didn't even bother to stay for the final, as I really only wanted to see fife.

I waited until the end of the second period of the final could not take anymore , got home for 11.30.
Feel really let down by the farce this morning, was going to cone home last night decided to stay the night to watch the game this morning, wasted time and the cost of a hotel, will not happen again, trade miss description comes to mind, 6,000 people cheated possibly

i can see it from both sides though, why would a player risk an injury in a nothing game, a game which on paper always looks good but in reality isn't much more than an exhibition match. alternative.....have an NHL style hockey skills morning/afternoon, there are fans of all 10 teams there, give them players from the 8 not in the final having competitions such as pen shots, accurate shot, speed/hardest shot, a race to find the fastest skater, fastest goalie, hell even fastest mascot!! etc

And as you say could involve all the teams which I am sure the fans from all of the teams would appreciate. Someone also mentioned that a few years ago there used to be a Scotland v England under 18s match. I am sure they could and should come up with something other than what is on offer just now with this 3rd/4th place playoff.

Back when it was at Wembley they used to have the under 16 British Final on the Sunday morning, I remember watching the Flames play and win there.

The weekend shouldn't even exist, it should be a playoff series like the rest of hockey home and away.
