Perhaps that is why there is no ambition with the Flyers owner today, there has been a lot of marquee signings over the years with the club winning about all there is to win in the British game however the unpredictability of said team resulted in very highs and lows of paying public attending NOT GOOD FOR BUDGETTING, I think now it's a case of get a reasonable team that can command an audience of 1500 - 2000,finish around mid-table, qualifying for the play offs is a bonus and employ a yes man to steer the ship. In a results based league if ever you wanted a cushy number it would be hard to find an easier job in the good ole hockey game than at Kirkcaldy, it's a shame because the fans support the team above and beyond at times and wet stuff drops on them from a great height.
Only my opinion and in the words of a certain bands frontman ..... I COULD BE WRONG I COULD BE RIGHT. ..........LOL.

spudeelad you are so right.
I said recently that Fife were working from the 1997 handbook for coaches and was harangued as we had only lost 2 games from 7 this year up to now.(Forget the fact that many of our games have been against the bottom teams in the league) Some wanted to buy 2 of these said handbooks it was obviously so good!
They all forget that since we came into the league and have used this old fashioned coaching method we have won zilch and this is not likely to change without a change of coach which will never happen.
As you rightly said the 1500 - 2000 will still turn up. The moribund organization will get by.

You just have to look at how the team goes out on the ice to get an idea on how this whole organisation is run. From the 1970's St Louis Blues socks, to the mis-matched coloured shirts and shorts, especially those terrible challenge cup shirts. If you can't even the the very basic things like that right then there's little hope for the rest. Amateurish from the very top to the bottom. The list is endless but most of it has been done to death on here and it doesn't change year after year.

Haha I was actually thinking that last week it’s like watching a team from the 80s skating about

Maybe, just maybe, there is an inkling of Fife being a dark horse this year. Ofc, it's early days yet (just like with my team being where it is), but it's a positive start from you for sure - typical just after I said what I did a page back hahahaha.

Yeah I would agree but it has taken 6 years to get to this point, MK and Guildford have arrived from Day1 at this level as far as I can see, with British coaches at the helm as well.

Let's no get too far ahead here boys. We've played pretty ****ty teams in our wins so far. The test as to where we REALLY are is this weekend. 2 game games against what's expected to be 2 of the top 3 teams.
I recon the boo boys will be back come Monday morning

The Boo Boys as you call some people have had fair reason to leave negative comments due to the fare served up and lack of ambition by the club in all departments during the clubs EIHL years to date. I believe now that the dust has settled on this seasons squad the comments have been very complimentary with the effort given and do not recall any ill shown after the recent home loss to Guildford (a first year club in the EIHL). No lack of effort and a will to win will always be positively acknowledged at Flyers regardless of the result, this group of players are showing a different approach than previous squads and a possible minor alteration could take the team to the top 5 for the first time and maybe actually win something.

I think the difference this year is the effort has bought the players time. It is clear they are fast, reasonably skilled, and committed to the cause. Last night, lets be brutally honest, they were awful for most of the game. 1st period, I thought that whilst they didn't look their best, they still showed we had enough to win, couple of very nice goals, but pretty much from the point we went 3-2 up, we were most definitely 2nd to every puck, lacked leadership, and every pass looked like the wrong choice. However, the team have very much earned the right to our support after a bad day at the office, we all have them. What will be key now is the reaction, they responded well to a big loss in Dundee, hopefully, with only a 1 game weekend coming (I think) this Saturday, we come out, hit hard, and get back to how we can play. I thought the crowd were poor too last night, didn't really get behind the team, and we have to play our part as much as the team does, we weren't in any way getting on top of the guys, but just didn't create any atmosphere at all. It was a frustrating loss for sure, that game was very much there for the winning, we have nothing to fear against these teams, it all comes down to belief, and desire. Last night was a bad day, but lets not overreact, its 1 game, on Saturday we can put it right by taking top spot in the Challenge Cup group, and getting back on track in the league.

The weekend games show that Fife CAN compete in this league but there needs to be one possibly 2 tweaks made to become a legitimate contender. The FARCICAL situation with James Isaacs playing up front needs to change, Fife are a D man down with Wands missing YET Flyers still have an out and out import D man playing up front (For the 2nd season).

Agreed. It's not Isaacs fault, he's clearly a team player, and will play where needed, but, you the balance isn't right. For me, Jimmy back on D, and Beattie into the 3rd is a start. I don't reckon wholesale change needed, but a couple of tweaks as you say, would make a world of difference. As it stands, we "should" win the Conference this season, but, injuries to overplayed guys could bite us, and, if we stay healthy, there is no reason we can't win either the Challenge Cup or Play Off titles, but again, it all depends, you can't ask 14 or 15 guys to skate for 60 games, they will need down time. This year, it's in our own hands, if we make sensible decisions.

Well well well. Could my comments earlier in this thread have been the jynx Fife have needed all along?! Haha. Excellent result tonight. Definitely not something I think any of your teams in the last 5 years would have been capable of.
