As an example this hit in the KHL from a few weeks back was given 8 games. Its a brutal hit (the blood makes it look even worse) but the player had the puck and saw the hit coming. It was also a North south hit, terrible suicide pass to give mind you.

external review ow.ly/HTlJ30g9Jd8 Sounds like common sense has prevailed on this finally....however the other body who is not involved with EIHL DOPS could just be Mike Hicks who does that role for the Danish league. If it comes back with anything other than a five game (minimum) ban for Fretter then it makes no difference getting an independent review. This play and the debacle that has followed needs to be handled correctly. They have got it so so wrong up until this point. Here's hoping they do the right thing this time. For me it should be 8-10 games. That sends out the right message across the league and across the hockey world who have already taken great interest in this entire situation.

agreed
i see a link to espn showing the incident was on twitter, so it's become an international embarrassment (rightly) allied to the very public outcry of fans (change.org petition to get DOPS reviewed) and players/coaches has meant they have no choice. lets hope the right thing happens and as you say a suitably lengthy ban is pronounced and EIHL reform DOPS as it's a farce, seriously damaging the sport we love as well as not protecting the players safety, which is priority number 1

It will also depend if he has previous if he doesn't then he might get 4 games but at the end off the day if the ref had called the original hit on fretter by the giants player the incident wouldn't have happened

for me original hit by the giant was a penalty, as well, so ref and linos at fault, giants player at fault for that hit and fretter at fault for losing his cool, but fretter should defo get more than 1 game for that

They do say there is no such thing as bad publicity, and this may finally result in DOPs being fixed. Don’t think we’ll be seeing Fretter on Saturday.

The league would be utterly stupid to allow this to go on long enough so that he free to play tomorrow. A decision has to come out before the game tomorrow. The incident and suspension is across NA on various sites including ESPN through Greg Wyshysnki (original puck daddy guy and the Marek v Wyshysnki podcast which sadly has ended ![(zzz)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/asleep.png) ) its getting loads of the wrong coverage for the league.

The fact the EIHL taking this out of DOPS hands completely undermines DOPS and exposes it for the farce it is. Shows UK hockey in an extremely bad light. Its a bad show all round but been coming for ages.
