Kirkcaldy Kestrels are very pleased to announce that, Ex- Fife Flyers players Daryl Venters & Wayne Maxwell, have re-signed with the Kestrels for the remainder of the season.
34 yr old forward Daryl, played most of his flyers career during the now defunct BNL, where he played under coach Mark Morrison. Daryl played between 1996 and 2005, where he played a total of 278 games for the flyers. During that time, daryl won a variety of competitions, with a GRAN SLAM in 2000 being probably the most memorable.
35 year old defenceman Wayne, played from 1994 -1999 for the Flyers playing 98 times for the Flyers, before moving to Edinburgh Capitals in the 99/00 season where he iced 13 times for the Caps.
Kestrels Coach Ewan Heeles commented on the double signing by saying " In recent weeks it has become clear that we need to bring in some experience to help the young guys on the team out. By signing Daz and Maxi, i really feel that this could be the missing pieces for us to finish of the season successfully. The big difference this season, is that the team is not being built round these older guys, but these guys are going to be here to compliment and help the younger players on the squad. Its not an old team supplemented with younger boys, but a young team supplemented by a few experienced players. Hopefully with Daz and maxi in and with Chad Reekie back from injury soon, we will be making waves and pushing up the table".
