Hi all, just a heads up that I have started a crowdfunding link with the intention of this being the start of a new supporters fund. Any support you can offer would be great, and any feedback on the link is welcome too. Getting donations is the best way of getting the attention of the club, and I will continue to do my best to try and get this made official. I am currently the sole organiser of it, however for transparency I would like to add at least one other person to the "team", just to ensure everything is above board and nothing is missed. If you think this would be something you would like to do, drop me a PM. Link: www.gofundme.com/f/fife-flyers-supporters-fund?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1Cheers guys, Lauren

Update for today - after speaking to them yesterday there will be an article in the Fife free press and on Fife today, sometime this week hopefully. The club have responded to the FFP saying they do not want to appear to be asking for money in the current climate, however they are aware of it and thank fans for their efforts.
Matt (sports editor) has suggested we try again in a couple of months if things take off, which given the success of Raith in a mere few weeks shows there's potential for. At least they've not outright said no, and we now know they are aware and thankful about what fans are trying to do.
My plan is to set up a group on Facebook where things like voting on the use of funds can be done (I should be able to do a vote on here, and will cross post everything between here and FB). Twitter is harder with its character limit but feel free to summarise and share (I'm far too wordy 😂).
If we can try and keep posts about this on this thread that would be great.

Seems strange that they are still reluctant in a way to accept the help. By their own admission they took a massive loss over losing the final 2 games.

Think it questions the viability of Flyers remaining in an import heavy league like the EIHL particularly when playing in a 2/3rds empty rink.

Not really..Tommy said at the Bay...he doesn't like to ask the supporters for money..I have my own opinion on why that is, but it's always been the way.

Yeh he did say that but this is a different situation now. Can't plead poverty then shun offers of help. Why do you think he has that stand point?

I see Matt Elder has tweeted something about the crowd funding initiative, which is positive. Would have been nice for Flyers to do the same on Twitter and Facebook. Not holding out too much hope as Flyers Facebook is still advertising the games for 14th and 28th March.

Raith Rovers have raised £45,000 from the supporters fund since the season finished early. There is a great 15 minute video with their chairman advising that leadership and communication are the most important thing at the moment. I maintain this crowdfunding would have worked for the Flyers if the club got behind it, but it appears they aren't really interested, no visible leadership or communication.

Yeah I don't see it taking off without their support and the official media channels sharing it. I've tried sharing it in hockey groups but it hasn't been approved by admins so hitting a brick wall really.
Really is ridiculous they won't get behind something like this when they're struggling. Do have to wonder if it had been set up by someone in the inner circle, whether it'd be a different matter.
I'll give it another week or two and will contact the FFP and the club again to see if there's a way forward

I think the main problem is that with the Rover's the majority of fans have faith in the current running of the club and are willing to effectively give them their cash whilst the majority of Fife fans know that the club is badly run and therefore won't part with their cash.
An example being that despite a dreadful season, with a squad that he picked, the club appears to be standing by a coach that should be getting judged on his recent results and it appears is going to be allowed to do it all over again. Why would you give your money for the same old?
The fans and their opinions are not valued and there's not much being done by the club to show otherwise.

Truth be told most of us have had enough of the Flyers.
Over the past three or four years we've had the heart knocked out of us, we've all realised that we're never going to win any of the big titles in this league, our team is led by two of the most uninspiring coaches you could hope for, our player selection has been woeful with to many nothing players arriving and taking our money, said players are defended by the coaches on one hand whilst they lay into the british players with the other, those brits we do have are given next to no ice time which is hard to take for many supporters of a club who historically has produced some great local talent, our tactics are.... well what are our tactics, and the least said about or social media engagenment with the fans the better.
I could go on and on we've just finished what I think is our worst season in the EIHL where we have finished bottom of the league and in all of the stat categories barring one, penalty mins per game, we are in the bottom three yet our coach thinks we weren't far of the pace.
Changes need to be made to get the fans back on side and for me it all starts with putting a team worthy of the Flyers name on the ice preferably one chosen by a fresh coach with new ideas to take us forward. A group that are willing to fight for the club and the jersey one which we can be proud of, we all know a good Flyers team will bring a couple of thousand through the door easy just been along time since we had one of those.
