Below is a recent post on the Kestrels page, it talks about players being "poached" and i've heard others have left! Is there something afoot at KIHC?? Never known the club to come across as being so spiteful as it has of late with the whole league thing and now this!
SIGNING NEWS:
Kirkcaldy Kestrels are delighted to confirm the signing of Latvian forward Rolands Dietlavs.
The 30-year-old previously iced extensively in the top flight in his homeland for HK Ogre, Zemgale, Prizma Riga and HK Ozolnieki/Monarch.
He also had a spell in the Netherlands, before returning to Latvia to play for Zemgale during the 2019/20 season.
Dietlavs subsequently signed for Murrayfield Racers and helped the Edinburgh-based club clinch the NIHL North Cup.
He spent last season with Paisley Pirates, netting seven goals and two assists in nine appearances.
Dietlavs has now agreed to join the Kestrels in a move the club hopes will turn into a long-term relationship.
A strong power forward – Dietlavs is an impact player and leader who will put up good numbers, which is exactly what we need at this time.
The signing is a significant departure from the Kestrels’ usual mode of operation after what has proved to be a challenging summer for the club.
Several players have exited Kirkcaldy after being poached, with last season's top points scorer Sean Cochrane the latest to confirm he will be signing for Edinburgh Capitals.
The Kestrels remain eager to defend their Scottish National League title this season and bringing Dietlavs on board is a big statement of intent by the club’s management.
Keep an eye on our social media channels over the coming weeks as the club puts the finishing touches to its 2022/23 roster.
