What do you think the chances are we keep Coolen?
I’d say slim to none. Not because I don’t want him to stay, he has brought in a fresh approach and new energy that’s seen us improve and also grow crowd numbers. However, he’s a 70 year old man who obviously isn’t a fan of load road trips and back to back games. Sure he could go to a lot of other places and get a job. Perhaps even stay in the elite league, but down with a team with less miles to drive each week. Manchester perhaps.
Will be a shame if he goes, but for one year he’s blown the dust off the club and opened the door for other new coaches.

I would love it if he returns for next season - you can clearly see the improvement on the ice plus he comes across a really good guy with a personality. Given a full off-season, I think he could build a great team if Tam gives him the backing. As you've said, the crowd has grown so hopefully Tam sees that. I'm sure I seen somewhere on the forum about a podcast Coolen did with Dundee and mentioned about it being his first season in Fife and that he had learned from his mistakes this year and will build a better squad next year...

He ain’t got a history of staying with any club all that long. He has complained about the travel a lot too.
He’s been good, but I reckon it’s a one and done type deal.
No idea who we get in to replace him if he is leaving. I do hope the management have learned that it costs us not having a coach in early - coolens in seasons upgrades have worked - imagine if he got to sign the squad from the outset, instead of having to deal with Todd’s hand me downs, like harsh and emmer.

It’s a no brainier to bring Tom back for as long as he wants He’s the right fit for us It’s clear he has contacts and he knows how it works now Good if we had him at the fixtures meeting also He would build a great team and hopefully keep a lot of what we have He looks a fit guy and more switched on than some elder statesman running big countries He has said he and his good lady love Scotland Hockey is the man’s life He’s not ready to go The whole hockey community love his interviews and listen to him in admiration. I would love to see him back and really hope he is With the team we have and 3 good Brits we would not have been hanging about the bottom of the league The whole hockey experience has changed 10 fold this season and the crowds are well up and that’s due to on ice product and Tom Coolen

I agree I would love to see him back for a full off season and playing season. I wanna see what he can do when he gets going right from the off. But I also think he’s gonna ask Muir to put his hand in his pocket for to keep him. (I would if I was coolan). We’ve run with multiple spares this season so there is clearly budget there for at least 2 full time Brits I would much rather have the depth on game night than guys sitting in the stands twiddling there thumbs not contributing. Who would we like to see back in blue and yellow next season
Coolen (with a proper Asst also)
Owen Spare import NM (it’s clear as day it’s needed in the league now)
Makela Pouteau New New New New
Pavlos Humitz Osterberg Lajunesse Shirley Pilon The rest I feel we could upgrade Thoughts?

I’d welcome every forward in squad back, improve on the non returnees and add 2 or 3 Brits capable of a regular shift. I would welcome both Owen and Salama back also. It’s the defence that needs a shake up Makela and possibly Potteau would be the only ones I would be keen to have return., I think we could improve on the other three. Continuity from the word go would be a real benefit. I know we might well not even make the playoffs but it has been injuries, a bit bad luck and bad scheduling that has caused that in my opinion. We can compete with anybody in the league and no reason why we couldn’t be a comfortable mid table team. I don’t think that is looking through blue white and gold tinted glasses but the most important thing is trying to get Coolans name on the dotted line soon.

If only we had a proper media presence at Flyers and this could be put forward as a question to him or owners, or GM 🤔

I was surprised (well, not really but you know what I mean) that none of the content from the “hockey talk” night was recorded or shared by the club.
you can pretty confidently guess that the “media team” was in attendance but was too busy drinking or enjoying the lowest level of fame available to a human.
If you go back and look at the content the club was pushing out 5-6 years ago it looked like we had started to try take us into the modern age. But sadly we have fallen right back into the 90s.
The valentines days videos I hear are being used as inhuman methods of torture in Gaza. The coaches corner audio clips sound like Coolen is a POW.
I guess the old adage is true. Pay peanuts. Get monkeys.

I hope he stays 100%
Next season he'll be much more league wise, he'll know the calibre of player needed, the travel schedule issues, the injuries, and the reliance of imports over brits. He'll also have plenty time to get a team together. Like bluewellies I see the bulk of our team as keepers but clearly we need to strengthen and improve some positions to climb the table.
I trust him to give us a better team next season so really hope he gives us another year.

No they ain’t Z. Not when you compare it to the level and quality of content we had a few years back. It’s spluttery bursts of content at best. It took them nearly 4 months to update the roster on the website as an easy example.
Anyways that’s off topic, back to Coolen. Don’t think he will be happy with the league after the dope update. Coolen gets banned 2 games and Pete Russell gets a fine. If anything you could argue Pete Russell should have gotten more than 2 games for launching a water bottle on the ice.

Coolen has been a breath of fresh air compared to the stagnant waters of Todd & Hutchy. This is the first season in almost 30 years of watching I've had a season ticket and I'd definitely consider another if he came back. We're very close to being a much better outfit than our league position suggests, with hindsight Tom could improve in a 2nd season. Either that or get Mark Morrison back....
