There’s no argument around Owen. He was poor all weekend, you could see it in his body language, he’s lost his confidence. Such is the life of a goalie. Sure he will bounce back, just might not be till next season. Baby brain is prob the cause. Understandable; but it is for sure effecting him. His defence wasn’t always all that helpful either. Think if we had the same forwards plus 4 good new d men, and a couple of capable Brit d - we could really be a good mid table team next season. I thought Salama should have got the nod tonight or there's no point in him being here. That said I cant really think of any goals that were Owens fault last night or tonight but I havent seen any highlights as yet. Offensively our forwards are great. They could maybe help the D out a bit more!

You have to love this coach. [b He's a legend (even if he goes at end of season) I recall reading the rule book a number if years ago and it did say you could pick your helmet up and put it back on or skate off with it. Think it changed but different leagues have different rules so Tom will just have to suck it up.

Salama Should have gotten one game this weekend.
The problem is Owen has set such a high bar that being an average goalie makes him look bad. 77% tonight for him. However you cut it, that’s not good enough

Thought over the weekend we witnessed 2 entertaining games, full houses, fights, hits, goals, mistakes, questionable penalties some lovely tic tac toe hockey at times from Fife, we picked up 3 points as did Glasgow, it all adds to the excitement, this is a far better watch than the boring morphed one system empty Arena rubbish we have watched last few seasons. We still in there, more of the same please next week.

I felt Flyers needed to gain at least two points on Glasgow over the weekend to have any realistic chance of making the playoffs. Unfortunately, we've made no ground on them whatsoever. Flyers' record of four wins and eleven losses in overtime/shootouts is absolutely appalling - the worst in the league by a considerable distance. You wonder whether it's a tactical, a fitness or a concentration issue.

The problem for me is we are a too offensively minded team. Our forwards are actually some of the best as a unit in the league going forward, but them and our d try too many things trying to exit our zone. Our only really defensive player is Pouteau but even he is trying to create offense more. This is where I think Coolen if he stays will improve the team. Better calibre of defence, couple more defensive minded players and the Brits we desperately need to give us depth. So frustrating, I was talking to a group of clan fans on way out last night and they think we are way ahead of them going forward and thought we sat back and didn't go at them in the 3rd, they said they were relieved as they thought they were going to get hammered. It certainly looked to me like we started to dump it and invite them on, and silly penalties the 5 on 3 Pavlovs should know better terrible penalty to take on the kill.

And on Owen I'm not sure that many if any of the goals were his fault in regular time, but the OT goal a keeper shouldn't really be getting beat near post, could see he was disappointed, but it's also good skill from the clan player to notice the space and execute. I'm not sure all the comments around him being totally off it are merited, we put ourselves in so many problems and scrambled last night too many scrappy goals given away.

I felt we sat back in the 3rd thinking the job was done The 7th Fife goal would have killed it That’s hockey as they say

That Osterberg penalty for me was ridiculous it should have been a penalty against Lynch for removing the helmet before he attempted to pick it up anyway. Thing is we now have 4 teams above us all on same points but with games in hand. We really need to solve the issue of giving away cheap goals but remaining dangerous. Maybe we just don't have the right mix this season, but we can all see with a few tweaks Coolen plays exciting effective hockey.

Think Pavlos was frustrated at not scoring a SH goalfew seconds earlier, their goalie was in no man's land, the goal was gaping but for some reason he chose to make a more difficult than kill the game at 7-3, thought this was the turning point in the game.

Unfortunately I think this is correct,as far as I can remember ,although a very poor rule if your helmet is at your feet and you don't have to skate after it imo. If we use the 2023 IIHF rulebook for the EIHL ?? it states : A Player on the ice whose helmet comes off during play has to exit the playing surface immediately. A player on the ice whose helmet comes off during play is not allowed to retrieve and put their helmet back on their head – for this they have to proceed to their Players’ Bench and exit the playing surface. If a Player does not comply with this rule, they shall be assessed a Minor Penalty without a warning

Aye because for me pulling someone down and taking the helmet off them is removing protective gear so should equally be a penalty as the daft rule that says you can't put it back on, being put at risk in what is a dangerous sport. For me that's back to front, Toby should Def have called both.
