I notice Ross Venus is yet to sign anywhere for next season nor has Josh Batch. I’m not saying either is likely but if we got both of those guys I really feel top 5 is a realistic prospect based on our imports so far. The Kazakh line could torment this league and will relish the big ice. You can’t hit what you can’t catch and if we are going to play a fast transition based style of game we will not give many opportunities for opposing players to really play physical and grind against us. I think Martineau is a tough type of player. Yes we don’t have a fighter but in Martineau, Lablanc and Pilon we do have guys that will play physical when required. I agree though some size and a real offensive D man would be ideal. I would be happy if we just signed 1 quality Brit, then go with some of the up and coming youngster for a few shifts a game as a fourth line. Sam Jones hasn't signed with any team yet either. Josh Batch would tick a lot of boxes, GB international, experience, size, physical presence and can fight. If we were spending the money to sign O'Connor then surely we can offer similar to a Batch or Jones, maybe I just wishful thinking again. Batch has resigned for Devils

Tom Barry has left Hull. Was on loan to Edinburgh Capitals a few years ago so knows the area. Heard his name linked to us but from an untested source

Heard his name linked to us but from an untested source Don’t think this would be any better than playing fynn page or Brodie kay, if anything not as good. He’s also 5ft8. He also only played one game for Edinburgh in the EIHL ever. I want brit signings as much as anyone else but no point signing people for the sake of it.

Think i said on twitter he was one of the standouts in the league that year. I don’t think we’ve directly replaced Lajeunesse and Osterbergs scoring but hopefully we have a better spread of consistent point production around the team this year.

How many more imports are left to sign?
Stewart - you always have good intel. What’s your best thoughts / guesses for remaining players? Any brits?

I reckon 4 more to sign:
- 2 D Men - 2 Forwards
Can see us carrying 2 spares from the outset. Personally would not be unhappy with Poteau was one of our last D men signings. We still need a bit of size and grit in the team which is otherwise coming together well. A Gauthier type player would also be ideal in the forward group.
Brits wise im really disappointed we’ve not made any progress in this regard. We cannot run 5 D and 9 Forwards night after night and think we can compete in this league over a 54 game season.

Difficult one with the brits now theres not many left. Myers, Henderson and Rutkis are still available but whether they are on our radar I don't know.

The British player situation is a complete and utter embarrassment. The owners should be being held to account by the fans. To have one British player(an 18 year old kid) signed in the middle of July is an absolute disaster. Depth literally killed us last year. Im trying to be positive about this year but its hard given the organisation evidently hasnt learned from last year and given Coolen the tools to really push on and succeed.
