This isn't another knee jerk reaction post, i've been thinking this through for a while now. I've not missed a single home game and I've been to several away games locally, and to say things are going well is a lie. After the first few games we managed to win well other teams have strengthened and it's left us well behind.
I know it has been said time and time again but he directors and Todd need to sit down and have a serious think about where we go now, before this season is a right off like last.
Here is a run down of the team and my own opinions of each player;
Bryan Pitton - Fantastic shot stopping ability and his puck moving skills are excellent. He is solid every night for us and really is an asset to the squad. However one minor gripe i have is some of the rebounds he lets out when the puck is fired straight at him, I think the game away to braehead kind of showed this.
Jeff Caister - Had a solid season so far, another great find by the club. (Lets hope tonights wee tantrum was a one off )
Derek Keller - Simply outstanding, his speed alone makes him an asset, before you add his all round ability to defend.
Zach Carriveau - I think he is a brilliant young player, made a couple of mistakes a few weeks ago, but has more than made up for them with the performances he has put in since he arrived.
Kyle Horne - Does make some silly mistakes but he is far and away our best Brit D. I just wish he would use his size and shot a little more.
Chris Wands - Has developed in to a solid, dependable defenceman.
Tommy Muir - The less said the better, constantly costs us goals with basic mistakes, just not cut out for this level, but as we all know as long as daddy is director and he is in todd's gang, he will get a game. He can fight though, but again no use if you can't play hockey.
Jason Pitton - Brilliant player, i know he has his critics but he has played through a couple of injuries for us and is generally a nuisance to the opposition. He also has a wicked shot, just wish he would use his size a little more, he's no a wee laddie.
Casey Haines - Another phenomenal find by the club, faceoff genius and would get a game on the first line for any club in this league. Hugely impressed.
Kris Hogg - As above and outstanding player, with unbelievable hands! He's always hungry to be involved and he will always stick up for his self. Just what we need in a fife jersey.
Todd Dutiaume - He has had a decent season, however he just isn't import quality for this league, he needs to take a step back and take over the bench and coaching aspect full time.
Danny Stewart - He has dragged us back in to games single handedly this season on several occasions and he is exactly the type of player that epitomises this club. Sometimes tries a little to much his self though.
John Dolan - Not been impressed so far, he refuses to get to the dirty areas, rarely throws any kind of hit and often looks like the game is passing him by.
Jamie Wilson - Another who is just not cut out for this level, no ability to handle the puck, sometimes looks like a lost sheep out on the ice.
Steven Gunn - Frustrating on some nights, amazing on others. He could have a bright future and i think he is developing quite well.
Steven McAlpine - Another who epitomises the work rate and effort that is expected in fife. Never gives up and will stick up for his self or a team mate in a heart beat.
Josh Scoon - Another who works hard for the team, given time he could develop in to a good player for us, just needs to bulk up a little bit, it is good to see him getting stuck in.
James Smith - Definitely expecting big things from James, if he can keep his head down and work hard he will have a big future ahead of him.
Blair Daly - Solid back up with a lot of potential.
All in all just now I feel very let down by the directors as it is so obvious we need to strengthen to compete. There is only so many times they can use the same old excuse of developing young Brits instead of paying the extra cash for another couple of imports. If it was me i would move Danny back in to defence, where he played well last year, chuck Tommy, Jamie and Dolan, and bring in 2 high quality forwards. And if Todd was to take up a full time coaching role, then another forward to replace him. If that was to happen we could match any team in this league on any given night, of that i am 100% confident.
We can dream I suppose!!
