"Why shouldn't we be called the Diageo Fife Flyers if it brings in another £50 000. "
Definitely need a more spirited approach to merchandising our club.lol Diageo is a multinational concern and you would reckon that the exposure they would get as the club travels throughout the UK with lots of advertising opportunities should be right up their street for a very modest outlay on their part.

Club's name should never be sold to a sponsor. Not even for £50k.

Could we no sell the name o the rink and get some company to put their name in big massive letters on the roof? That always looks good.

"Could we no sell the name o the rink"
Yes - I can see it now :: "TAM MUIR'S SCRAPYARD"
In these days I've no real problem in having the RIGHT name associated with our team name. It's a case of getting finances from wherever you can and it would make such a difference.

Nope - selling the team name should be unthinkable - that's why you're supposed to have a commercial team working hard in the community/region following up all leads etc. Have they done that this year? Hand on heart? I'd question if they have ... You're 2 years into the EIHL so talk of bringing league titles to Fife is premature.

Pretty sure he meant having a major sponsor would enable us to finance a squad capable of winning he league similar to the panthers this year.

Have to agree on the commercial side, for example there is a grid in the program where it costs as little as £5 per season to sponsor a piece of kit. I cannot understand why that grid is barely half full. It might simply be that the commercial team simply don't have time. There is so much money out there to be had, but someone has to chase it. And i'm sure that the people that do it just now do the best they can with the resources they have. On the other hand I have nothing to do with advertising etc so indeed know nothing about how to get sponsership. Pretty sure he meant having a major sponsor would enable us to finance a squad capable of winning he league similar to the panthers this year. Indeed this is what I meant, I don't think for a second we are anywhere near capable of winning the league now or even in the next 5 years.

Let Allan get on with his job, I suspect that's half the battle.
Lord know how half the folks manage to stick the job for more than 5 minutes. Reckon that Muir is almost impossible to work with, it's his toy, and boy will everyone who works for him know it.
Need to look at the whole structure, get a GM on board, and Muir and Wishart should become the "silent owners" allowing the GM, Commercial Manager, and Coaching Staff get on with it.
This Green Light c***, should never happen. Give the guys a budget, and let them build the team. If Allan can go out and get more money than the budget allows, that should go straight to Todd and Danny to improve the roster.
Muir quite simply has too much power, his Team, his Rink, his ba (puck)

on the subject of budgets maybe its down to how todd and danny spent the cash, rather than how much. maybe we should of had 11 lesser players and depth rather than our nine so called better players at the start of the season

I think we should have went with 11 cheaper imports, Zach has been brilliant and won't be on as much as the other imports.

You seem to know an awful lot about him, how he thinks, how he talks and how he spends his dough. When did you last attend any kind of meeting within FIA that involved Directors, management, players and/or staff? Any chance you can give me the winning lottery numbers for Saturday.

How do you know Allan ''isn't'' allowed to get on with it? Total supposition on your part. Do you seriously believe if he popped up with a £10k sponsor or even as £500 one they'd say ''nah, money isn't good enough?'' ... c'mon, think about it. Commercial managers don't go out and get more money than the budget allows - the budget is set, commercial manager will have or should have a target to contribute to it. If they bring it more it can finance what the management team decides - not the coaches. That may be an extra import, it may be new kit, may be on PR & advertising etc etc etc.
You're mixing the club's ethos which is to run with 'x' imports (whether that number is 8, 9 or 10 feel free to rant about until you turn blue in the face!), and club finances which whether they are healthy or not are completely separate.
Do Flyers need a GM? Maybe, but only with a clearly defined remits to deliver in certain areas - match night presentation, PR, or the club's social media which seems to be run by far too many enthuasiastic fans who - no disrespect - should not have access to it. The list goes on ....
And expecting the directors to become 'silent owners' ... sorry Davie, but if I'd put in my money over all these years and this was put on the table I know what my answer would be.
