Too many anouncers seem to think THEY are the entertainment at the rinks. They should just stick to making official anouncements and playing tunes. We pay to watch the hockey not listen to them Spot on! I had a family member at the Edinburgh game who hadn't been in 20 years. Talking after the game, he said he enjoyed the hockey but felt the constant chat from the announcer and blaring music took away from the game. Fair enough on the chatter from the announcer, but for every one of the older generation who don't like the "blaring music", you'll get one from the younger generation who do - it helps keep the younger kids interested and they are the future of the club. Also, I doubt anyone comes away from an NHL game going that would have been so much better if they not played music every time the play stopped - it just par for the course in 2013.

If it's youngsters who like the blaring music at FIA lets hope they like traditional 'pump up' ice hockey music from the likes of The Proclaimers, Runrig, Jimmy Shand and whoever sings Geordie Munro ;D

To an extent you right, but surely there has to be a balance? I had this discussion with Alan a while ago on here and he agreed that we shouldn't be heading down the Braehead route of performing seals. The key is playing the right music at the right points of the game. Not rolling out Runrig 4 times a game or cutting over the fans when they've start singing.

Malcolm was a good announcer. Clear and concise. Always nice to chat to when ever I met him. A nice guy for sure.

Malcolm Sherris to me was the best match night announcer due to his easy to listen to very clear / natural ( English ) accent and not coming across like the current one who seams to be thinking out every word and putting a bit of a showtime glitz on it probably because of the criticism he got at the start but its still way too cheesy for me. I believe Malcolm left over the refusal of a free entry ticket for his wife. Is there ANYTHING or anyone your happy with, I wonder why you even turn up at games at all MOD COMMENT: No disguised swearing please.

Tommy (Goalie), I have an opinion like you do and will post my observations as its my £30 / game ( 2 tickets ) that i spend not yours. I take it that you are not happy that i have voiced my opinion regards the announcer probably because the family sit within your Wolfpack area well i don't seem to be alone with that thought, it doesn't mean i'm right, its just my opinion. I don't like the Geordie Munroe either mainly because of the Santa Claus head and 20 odd years after The Burd we have went well backwards. I don't like the price of the players shirts as Fife is not the richest region of the country, just look how many are available. I do like ice-hockey as you well know and travel to most local mid-week games of other teams as well as Flyers ( Braehead tonight ) and yes i do have friends and people / things i like at Kia, surprised you posted your little spat on this forum as we only stand 20ft from each other on a game night , we can talk at the next game if you need a chat.

What has spoiled Flyers forums the past few years is people who respond to points by saying 'you're just a moaner' or 'this forum is full of moaners' and make no reference to the points being discussed. It kills debate and results in folk firing insults at each other.
First and foremost Flyers fans go to watch the hockey and have a loyalty to the team. Does that automatically mean they have to think everything about the club outside the game is fantastic or just accept it?
If some fans are happy with the current match-night experience that's great, but those who arent are entitled to say so as long as they can give reasoning. Personally I think it's absolutely awful- awful music, cheesy loud announcing (are we going to be the next Braehead performing seals?), having 'Scottishness' rammed down our throats for some reason and poorly co-ordinated build up. If anyone want's to tell me why it's in actual fact brilliant that fine- it won't make me less of a Flyers fan though.

Great post Finchy exactly where I stand as well. As I have said on a number of threads I think it is awful at the minute and if you're not a hockey fan you will not have a good night especially if the game is flat as nothing unique is going on.
The announcer had big shoes to fill and I dont think he has even got a toe in Craig's shoes to be honest. Dundee's announcer puts us to shame and he is no great shakes.
