To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what the links are between Junior and Senior, I know it had pretty much stopped for a while, but I suspect some of it is back now. Not sure if as Head Coach of the Senior Side, if that automatically gives you involvement in the Juniors though, you'd suspect there wouldn't be time to do everything. Could be wrong though, not sure how it works Please someone correct me if I am wrong here, but technically Kirkcaldy Kestrels are the top level side of Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey Club and not Fife Flyers - there is no common link between the clubs other than the ice rink now. KIHC is not on the Flyers badge anymore. Obvioulsy there should be a link between the 2 clubs, but both will have different agendas at the minute. Also, if you have seen Ian Robertson's post on the Flyers facebook page, that shows how much interest there has been from the Flyers getting involved in the Junior Development set-up - no interest apparently! I also believe it's the rink who have organised the Easter camp and got the Flyers involved rather than the other way about.

Rumour going around that this will be Todd's last season. I hope not considering all that he has given to the club He will return to being a fireman in the summer

How do you know the imports aren't on during the day on some days because I'm pretty sure try are. Like a Friday for example. Not being on the ice every day would not be an excuse for not being fit either. It's not that at all. It's that they play incredible minutes and did more at the start of the year. They'll be totally burnt out. Last night was nothing to do with that though. The ONLY reason Dundee one was Brian's bad day and our lack of finishing/not getting the lucky bounce in front of net. We could have had 5/6 that just didnt go in! I hope we have signed up the bulk of our guys for next year to build on what we currently have. Start with 11 without Todd and Danny(who cost us 3 goals last night - he's been mega poor this season) and I think you'd see an unbelievable difference! I'm not sure to be honest if they are or aren't, a lot of it is hearsay I guess. We do seem to tire really easily compared to other teams, so from me, I guess its trying to put 2+2 together and come up with what the reason is. We need to give the coach (Todd or whoever it is) the best possible chance to succeed. And that's stamina down to Ice time and Gym, and of course bodies. Likewise, I hope the bulk of the imports are back next season, you could argue for all 11 really in some cases, but even if we can get 7 or 8 back, and give us the stability to go forwards.

Neebur i don't know what your problem is when the truth is told on here, i call a spade a spade and was at Dia last night, myself and all around me were of the opinion that Bryan had an off night and to rub it in we were sitting level with the goal line watching them all go in then watching his own disgust at the time, if you want to call a spade something different become a politician and realize that not all criticism is bad after all i did say he did not have many off nights but believe me last night was a howler which I'm sure he will get over, i suggest you do the same like we will. PS, Have you previously had a different user name on this forum your scriptures look familiar /

I think Todd should act as a link between the junior development and Flyers from next season and not a playing role. Danny I think would make an ideal full time coach. I think he has struggled a bit since his bad injury. He added direction to the team this season and last from the bench. Listening to Podge on the radio he talked about how good Danny is at changing the team mid-game. I think they if both of these things were to happen that we would only start with 9 imports as they would be paying out extra wages. We would need a larger sponsorship deal to get 11 import players and a full time coach.

If we can only afford 11 players (including a player/coach) i.e. can't afford a full time coach then Danny has to go.
As a club I still dont think we have a winning mentality some people may be delighted we have 40 points I am not. Yes we have done well this season but we can do so much better, battling it out with Dundee, Hull and Edinburgh will hopefully be a thing of the past next season and we can move onto challenging with Braehead (who will be better), Blaze, Devils and that means competing in every game home and away no matter who the opposition are.
I believe the messages are all wrong. I listened to Podge on kingdom saying we will go and play a road game at the Stars my question is WHY? We haven't played many good 'road games' all year and when we actually play physical (like we did at home at the start of the season) we are successful. Dundee got back into Dundee that morning from Hull whereas we had a day of rest, a 1 game weekend and Dundee is 45 mins up the road yet we change our style. I can understand playing a road style game against the Nottingham, Sheffield, Belfast, Cardiff even the Clan but not against Dundee with 5 games left.
Changes do have to be made. We have conceded too many goals lately and the defence is really struggling at the minute. I think our top 6 forwards should come back next season, I would be disappointed if Todd and Danny played another game in a Flyers jersey after this season although Todd should have a testimonial. Defensively we need to look at bringing in a big guy with a big shot from the point.
It has been a season of improvement but we have missed a great chance this year because we should have won the conference. I think with Clouts leading us we would have won.

It would appear to me that Danny has been getting more responsibility and say all season,if i was a betting man i would say that Danny will be player coach next season. Its disappointing to read some of the negativity directed at Todd on this forum after all he has done for this club. Todd cares about this club and should be respected by all FF fans a gentleman on and off the ice and considering that he is almost 40 has put in a decent effort this season. I was told at the begining of the season that he was taking a year out from the Fire Service, and this would be his last season as a player. I hope he stays involved at the club as Kirkcaldy is his home and has a lot to offer in another capacity like Director of Hockey or taking charge of Junior Development. Anybody coming on here moaning that we have not improved on last season is wrong,i think we have established ourselves in this league and only second to Panthers on home wins. If we make the play offs great if we dont its only a few more games, next season will come soon enough. How do we improve next season its all been said before there are some good things said on this forum but only time will tell,11 imports from the start, changes to some of the brit pack, sign all of the current imports and if Todd does hang up his skates look at how the Caps improved with the signing of Leinweber and Patry only daviejojo as he keeps telling seen that coming. If we hadnt got the injuries this season and had 10 imports from the start we could have been sitting in 5th position easy what i would say though is we need an enforcer type next season not a goon a player that can stand his ground with the Arena teams tough guys that would signify to fans that the management have lessons learnt and would certianly put extra bums on seats next season as the say in hockey it not over until the fat lady sings....

If next season we do seek out an 'enforcer type', hopefully we don't go too far down the Sean 'The Sheriff of Dundee' Mcmorrow route...

Zamboni, I agree Todd has been a fantastic servant for the club and the 11 jersey should hang from the rafters but his best days behind him and apart from his testimonial I hope we don't see number 11 in a Flyers jersey after the season is over.
I also hope Danny is allowed to build his side if he does indeed take over and move away from so called 'Fife Hockey'. We have to be more physical, less stupid penalties but more fights and more roughing penalties. No team should come in here and dominate a game physically.

in an ideal world we would have 11 imports and danny as coach with the option to skate to cover injury etc, essentially giving us 12

Todd has been amazing for Flyers but deep down he will know that the time is right for retiring. I hope he can help create a bridge between the juniors and other teams so that Flyers can benefit. Have the owners got the desire to take the next step? Eventually we got an 11th import but result wise it has not improved us. They will need some persuading to got for the full quota from the start. Had we won most games since playing with 11 that may have changed their minds, however we have only won two home games and these were just by a whisker. Pity we do not have some "bruisers" within the Kestrels as the Flyers need passion and a willingness not to get pushed around next season. I would love to have season Paul Heavey and Paul Hand mixing it with the imports that come over here. They both loved a scrap. Having said all that I don't want us to be a goon team, just a team that will match whatever the others throw at them. A mix of European speed and skill, with the best qualities of USA/Canada and local thrown in.

Problem is, by the time that Podge was brought in, the other guys were running on empty. Going with 11 from the start, will make a huge difference.
