I looked and tried to work this out, but for the life of me, my brain is struggling to come up with a definitive answer.
So if we win our last 2 games at home, Edinburgh and Clan, does that guarantee us a top 8 slot?
Any help would be much appreciated :-)

I don't think it does, but keep getting different answers every time I look ;D Any help would be much appreciated :-) 1 Nottingham 48 39 8 0 1 79 2 Belfast 48 34 9 2 3 73 3 Sheffield 48 32 13 0 3 67 4 Coventry 49 24 19 4 2 54 5 Cardiff 48 20 21 2 5 47 6 Edinburgh 48 20 24 3 1 44 7 Fife 49 20 27 1 1 42 8 Braehead 49 18 25 6 0 42 9 Dundee 47 18 23 2 4 42 10 Hull 48 16 23 2 7 41

not certain, especially with the 1 point for SOL/OTL, i thought last weekend if we won our two home games we'd qualify, still think we would because Dundee will do Braehead in their two games but actually now not so sure we will win our home games, unfortunately can't make Saturday, but hope the guys put on a classic home performance to keep us in it

it'll be tough for us if we win both home games we will finish on 46 points, if we win all 3 it's 48 points. but caps have 2 x home games against us and dundee and there 2 away are against the same teams, so they could possibly end up on 48-52 points, so if that happens they will be certs for 6th, stars have 2 away in braehead, home against hull and caps and away against caps- possible finish 46-48 i would think, hull only have 1 conf game left if they win it it'll be 43 points if not they will be bottom on 41. clan have 3 games left 2 v dundee and last game v us , so they will finish 46-48 points as well ,
so us clan caps and clan could all finsh on the same points it woudl then go to regulations wins i think then there is the question if panthers wn there conf the winner of our conf is 2nd seed but any other teams in the south conf wins it they are 2nd seed i think

The fact is 8th place probably won't be good enough anyway

As hard as it is to say we want Dundee to win the conference and win out and IF we can pull ourselves together and win out we have a chance at 7th.. Big ifs though

if the panthers win tonight and tomorrow against the giants that's it they will have won the conf as well then we must finish 7th if we don't win our conf as finishing 8th will probs knock us out , i think this is a daft system and that one thing i would change next season it should be the top 8 in the league come the end of the season that are in the playoffs end of

The fact is 8th place probably won't be good enough anyway FACT is if all games are settled in regulation, we will qualify with two home wins, so...... come on flyers we could actually qualify with one win against Braehead if our friends from across the Tay saw off Hull and Braehead(twice) but lets not rely on friends

oh, and don't drop the conference system yet, it's been great, can't go on forever as it will eventually get too repetative, but for the development of the sport in Scotland i think it's got far too much going for it, less travelling, more competative games against teams of a similar standing, more wins for every team in our conference (except poor wee Braehead who had 26 in the W column last season)

no no i don't want the conf system scraped either i just think it's unfair that you've worked for 6 months to finish in a playoff sopt and it's not even guaranteed you'll make the playoffs, don't understand that it's like the spl split totally stupid you could finish 6th get put in the bottom half and win your games and finish with more points that the team in 4th meaning you should be in europe but no cause your no in the top half, if you get what i mean

I think gaining a good seeding by winning the conference is a good reward for winning your conference. Otherwise the conference system is a bit redundant. I think some people are saying it should be the league top 8 because it is unlikely we will win the conference. One change I'd make though is; if a team wins the league but not their conference then the conference winner should be 3rd seed rather than always the Gardner team.

If you're going to use conferences, then it should be top 4 in each conference qualifying for the play-offs

The conference system has been great for our club. If we dont make the play offs its because we've not been good enough, end of story.
