Once again the referee get's himself involved in a game which was flowing along nicely without his involvement. He's happy to call someone sliding on Zachs stick but won't call Ding-a-Ling sucker punching Tommy right in front of him!
I'm sick of saying this but the guy is spineless. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Panthers that made the decision to end the game, not Cowan.
What's even more galling is they get paid, by the club, to do this. The league will never move forward unless we invest in better ref's, the muppets we currently have just ruin it.
Panthers never really looked like scoring until they were given 5 v 3's.

Saying on Panthers forum that the 1:08 remaining in the game is going to be played tomorrow prior to the second game starting.
Is this true ?

They announced that at the game tonight, inept calls in a play off game, the very first one that Panthers got should have been the other way as Hogg was holding onto his opponents stick and pulled them both down to the ground with their backs to the ref but Rabs x ray vision got it wrong, the one on Turnbull was a joke for high sticks and Danny's was in a similar vein. Poor decision to finish the game early with 1.08 to go, obviously suited Panthers down to the ground as they were under pressure and could have lost a 5th goal, i can't see how its fair to play those lost seconds on another rink handing an advantage to the home team. Panthers never even waited on the MOM awards to be announced ...... poor show, the same could be said of the the rink if indeed they did not have a spare plexi section, good job it didn't happen in the first minute eh.

Agree Cowan got in the way tonight Panthers were on the ropes as i said earlier in the week the pressure was all on them. Flyers were awsome tonight. They never looked like scoring until they were gifted the 5 on 3's from the chump that calls himself a ref, this wasnt just another game play off games you let the soft stuff go. The correct call was made to end the game as a sheet of plywood could have exposed both sets of players to risk of injury as it would have given way if the players impacted the board. What i would say though is that Corey Nelsion showed a total lack of class and was disrespectful to the Flyers and both sets of fans by taking his team of the ice prior to the tradditional MoM award, shame on you Corey you are obviously a bad loser and feeling the pressure. The bottom line is you were beaten by a better team tonight and you know it. If you go on to win on aggregate score the plexi glass and the Chump did you a big favour.

Does anyone else feel a bit cheated by Neilson taking the huff and taking his team off before the handshakes or the presentations. I do and I feel he showed disrespect to our team and supporters as well as his own fans who came to the game. We usually clap the opposition off the ice - no chance of that tonight though.
No problem with playing the extra minute down at Nottingham but really what a sulk. Not very sportsmanlike

They were told it would 20-30 minutes to replace glass as there are spare panes but obviously Nottingham were in a hurry to get home they were not prepared to wait Cowan should have exerted his authority and told Nielson to wait but alas no B**s from Cowan.

Ronnie H You better make sure you have spare sheets of plexi for next season. If we lost the glass panel in the first minutes FIA would have lost alot more £ notes than a dozen sheets of glass would cost!!

Excellent performance by the Flyers and a very well deserved win. Thought Bryan played out of his skin tonight and was good value for his MoM.
Thought the second delay of game (on Danny) was a criminally bad call.
The Panthers players should be ashamed of their conduct at the end of the game. Very disrespectful, especially to their own fans who spent their time and money following them up here.
At least we've got something to hang on to tomorrow. Very proud to be a Flyer tonight.

I was at a game in Dundee this season where 2 sections of plexi was replaced, 1 was in the warm up and took 30 minutes to replace and it wasn't even the same size as the one that exploded it was shorter but the game went the distance.

Have to admit to having doubts about Flyers being able to do it but boy did they prove me wrong. That first period is by far the best they have played and made a really good Panthers team look quite ordinary. The intensity of the team from the off was high, we took our chances when they came and could have had more but for hitting the bar a few times. Then came the 3rd period and the Cowan show in which he decided he was going to hand Panthers the lifeline the were looking for. He called nothing all night then decides he would call just about everything against us, helped of course by the 2nd ref on the ice...David Ling.
Anyway that really was playoff hockey at its best and a superb way to sign off what has been an unforgettable season on home ice...now lets finish it down there!
