Probably not the biggest surprise of the season, but Ryan will not be back next year. Feel a bit sorry for him really, always had kind words to say about us, and it's a tough ask to be expected to win titles etc year on year. www.eliteleague.co.uk/no-return-for-finnerty-p182988

Must be huge pressure being expected to deliver silverware every season. Especially up against the big spending Panthers.
He seemed to get slated when he was appointed as not being the man for the job, not sure how you can make that call without him even having had the chance. Ok, in this case the doubters have been proved right, but if you don't give someone the chance, how do you know what they are capable of?

Yeh, it's a tough job Sheffield. I don't think they have the money of either Nottingham and/or Belfast, and yet, because of their reputation, the expectations are huge. Very similar to Coventry I imagine too, most decorated EIHL club, but, that was really in a different era. The arena clubs, seem to have raised the bar.
Will be interesting to see who takes over, couple of names I've seen in the fray are Gardiner (Clan) and a certain Paul Adey who has been pretty good in Italy.

Danny could be a dark horse there maybe, either that or the next Mark Morrison at KIA.

Neither have the money to compete with Nottingham. Nottingham are the only club in the entire country who makes an operating profit. If you look through history, both Belfast and Steelers have been on the brink several times. Steelers used to change holding company every year when their owner just put the holding company into administration then liquidated it, paying creditors back little of what they were owed and passed the Steelers onto the new holding company and this happened every season for about 5/6 seasons.
