![;-|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/squint.png) By all accounts it was Shane who stopped that being double figures, how can the defence not be at fault? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Thought we started off promising, but ran out of steam midway through the 2nd and never really got it back. Giants were all over us in the 3rd.
Not the performance that we were hoping for, but first game back for us. Happy to be back in the barn regardless of the result.
Hand is in bits from drumming, must remember gloves next time!

The fans certainly turned up again tonight Decent crowd for a Sunday night Vocal Giants fans there in numbers also enjoying a good weekend Our guys a baptism of fire intro to EIHL We need to get last piece in and get the lines settled They have show they can work hard but need to take there chances looked tired tonight after keeping Giants out for first 30 minutes You could see the step up in quality the Giants have but we had umpteen chances and didn’t take them

Well beaten by a pretty good Giants team. Giants had us hemmed in our own end for much of the first with some slick passing moves. Chase cashed in on a mistake to score with a nice finish and Flyers unbelievably went in one up. Flyers made a good start to the second and had a few decent chances until Boucher scored a lovely equaliser. A too many men on the ice penalty was punished by Belfast and the third goal just about finished the game. Third period was much like the first with Belfast well in control, scoring two more with the result never in doubt. Shane Owen deservedly got Flyers MOM. Flyers can’t be faulted for their work rate throughout the game, but Belfast just had better players and deserved the win. We need the last import brought in sooner than later, because despite his best efforts Grigors is far short of what is needed in this league. Some decent plays by Flyers, but only in fits and starts. Disappointing first weekend to the competitive season in terms of results.

Dutes interview after the game one comment at the end “we certainly have the makings of a team that can compete”
Oh and he is a fan of this defensive core.
The makings of a team that can compete not a competitive team from the start one he thinks might get there at some point!
No idea on what players can do PP PK just starting to find that out so zero scouting done on these guys.
Sorry I just have no idea how he still has this job.

Should never have been given the job this year after his abysmal record the season before

Scott Jamieson MOM last week one shift last night and not a single second tonight.
Wonder how long before folk start making noise about him not being good enough big enough Fife ain’t developed any players that can play EIHL.
Before any of that gets said read the first sentence again, that’s your reason right there.

To be honest I don’t think you can blame Todd too much for the recruitment. You can see he’s recruited this team with one hand behind his back and from his interviews he is well aware they are short of what is necessary. Giving him so little time to recruit has not helped so we can’t just blame Todd the owners need to answer for this as well.
Replacing players like Gauthier Cazzola, Schaber, Finucci with kids who are completely unproven is always going to produce teething pains. These kids will improve but Todd needs to be able to bring in 2/3 guys quickly and I feel he knows that.

Todd is responsible for recruitment, end of story. Obviously there is a budget, and it's how you spend that budget is key, getting the components of a team. That's not worked well so far. And as for zero ice time for Scott Jamieson, what a disgrace. We are not looking for him to change the game, just add some energy to team and crowd, and a breather for the imports.

Should never have been given the job this year after his abysmal record the season before Problem is due to the lack of professionalism and ambition within the club, I don’t think any half decent coach would be forwarding their CV.

No idea on what players can do PP PK just starting to find that out so zero scouting done on these guys. Sorry I just have no idea how he still has this job. 4 games in - you expect a newly assembled team not to have any growing pains? Is his assessment not honest without being damning on players who are still adjusting - he'd be better just calling them out now wouldn't he - that would be smart coaching. The 3 teams we have played will all improve in the next few weeks. Dundee and Coventry looked pretty average against us, neither could run a PP which is at least something we've settled into quickly, even Belfast for all they were way better than us (which we all knew before a puck was dropped) looked ropey at points and they will be better, unfortunately for us - they will all be by definition more competitive. Now will this lot we have improve enough - I have doubts, it does sound as though the coaching staff have too - let's see what happens. The bit about zero scouting just sounds like you've thrown your toys out the pram. You don't recruit special team units as such. The PP has looked decent, way more potential than the last couple of seasons which despite our apparent drop off in talent this year was most of the time BRUTAL previously with the supposed better quality players. I'll assume that no one recruited has never played on a PP or PK unit and just as they have done with every coach they have played with it is the system for both that they need time to learn and implement. So we'll find out who is best suited the more we play - not because there was zero scouting. We will be scouted though and as the season progresses both systems need to evolve, heck good teams can do that in a game so again different horses for courses. We don't know in these two situations that he mentioned what we have yet. Pretty simple - no need to go all forensic 😀

See that’s the problem, I’ve heard numerous times there isn’t a set budget, no set ‘pot of money’, Muir decides on what each individual is worth, like for example years ago when they offered Craig Moore 50 quid a week do you actually that they only had 50 a week remaining on their budget? No

I'm reading on Facebook that Krogh got on but I never noticed him on the ice other than when he sat the 2 min bench penalty. Did he get on?

No 100% agree. We can’t always put the blame at Todd’s door. He’s working with hands tied behind his back. Would I like to see a change of coach, personally Yes, but Todd does care and I believe gives 100% to the role. Structurally the club needs to appoint a GM and then we can worry about getting a coach sorted. There should be a set budget and Muir should not be interfering with hockey matters he is not qualified to manage. Or he makes himself GM and then he’s accountable.
