Naslund for the 5th goal, watch his crossover just as Boucher looks to accelerate he goes to the wrong side and gives up all the room boucher needs he is also gliding rather than skating for most of the play.
Our PK - seen this in the first game and in Coventry the 2 forwards aint playing the same way one is playing a wide box the other a tight box it is leaving too much space on one side. Too much movement away from where they should be, Stadynk in particular losses his position a lot watch him and Giants 71 Stadynk had no idea where he was most of the time leaving the option to pinch in backpost far too easy. As Kenny Horne used to say head on a swivel.
Lescovs pinch wasn't that poor - as the guy rims it off the glass it's 4 v 4 in their end and he was trying to take away the wall - their 5th guy is at that point over the red line and Emmerdahl not close enough given where the puck is - yeah give the guy all that free skating and he's likely going to be able to pick a spot - as you say nice shot. What I will say in Emmerdahls defence and it's a legit play - when you are afraid you will get burned by speed your gap increases - there are many on the team at the moment who have that mentality - kinda natural.
Naslund, I guess you can defend him slightly by saying he got caught covering the wrong side but his skating whatever way you look at it so far has not been what I expected.
Not sure there is anything to evidence a particular fault in the PK - Stadnyk might not be aggressive on the kill or at least on the Giants example you chose to use he preferred not to go above the tops of the circle - nothing wrong with that especially when their D are so high - where's the danger ? Similarly if we have someone that want to hound the puck when it's on his side then let him, they can't both be chasing guys on the blueline or the simply play is to the guy standing in the middle of the box and he has the best scoring chance you can give on the PP - pretty sure you know all this stuff though. What could be criticised is when Soy eventually steps in and Stadnyk doesn't step up - I think he clearly saw him he just looked gassed at that point as they had zipped the puck about.
I think you'll need a body more evidence than highlights of 2 games to start making legit calls on players abilities or lack off. Let's see how it works out in coming games huh ?
Dont get me wrong Rossco Im not calling out any of these guys yet simply talking about the plays as I see them on the VT.
PK - Danger in one guy playing high is that it screws with the defensive system you employ be it tight high or moveable box or switching to diamond formation should the offence move to a 2-2-1 umbrella attack. each system is designed around the players you have and remaining disciplined within it the structure is key. Having one forward moving high and the other remaining low gives opposing High IQ guys far too much time. You can easily pick up on the confusion and exploit it as Belfast did.
On Lescovs pinch its a split second call but given they were clearly chasing the game coaches should have been calling defense first mentality, Once you see both wingers in deep you need to stay back. Easy to say from the stands as you say.
