Zico, I am all for change and progression but i don't hold to people that have to be in your face for personal glory, we are not there to admire the DJ. I seem to have a problem with glory hunters and in that mold we have had a number of people who were absent from KIA for many years and when the BIG TIME comes back to the rink they amazingly re-appear and get involved and its the look at me syndrome all over again. I get suspicious when somebody makes a statement which was untrue then mysteriously happens a few weeks later, i don't know what happened to the long term dj ( Brian who also done the junior games most weekends ) but it wouldn't be hard to find out i know he didn't commentate but in my opinion we don't have the right person at the moment and no i don't want to do it or try to be better because it isn't my scene. How can you be a glory hunter when the reality is that for many people the standard of hockey was not palatable when it was amateur hockey and now that the standard is better and is professional then these people come back. Why should anyone have a problem with that? exactly. And really that would make 80% of the fans that go now "glory hunters" but it's hardly being a glory hunter supporting a team that will most likely in the bottom 3 or 4.

Nothing like a forum to bring out the sanctimonious claptrap! I take it you're not reporting a robbery this week then? The irony of folk who start off a post on a forum by making derogatory remarks about forums is fantastic. I'm not sure what you think sanctimonious means either but it's different to what I think. Nice one Finchy - love it! ;D Wasn't intending to be particularly derogatory about the forum - it definitely has it's place but sometimes we can take ourselves too seriously. BTW - Sanctimonious = self-righteous i.e. "I'm a better supporter than you are" as seems to be going on with some folks!

Hilarious, your opinion is fine and as entitled as mine is but you obviously miss the point, no big deal.

JamesT , Sorry but you can't compare the Clan & Flyers night out as remotely close, ask an expert Dave Simms. lol
Also, I never remarked about fans being absent from the rink for years, if you read my post correctly it was only aimed at a few bodies who have came back and volunteered / orchestrated their way into the limelight sometimes at the expense of good people that had always been there and beyond, you may not be local as you always seem to be on about the Clan so you would not understand.

Couldn't agree more about needing to enhance match night experience. The pre-match build up was terrible on Saturday, the music choice was shocking, Equinox was bad 20 years ago never mind now!

I don't think there would be any harm in checking out the entry music used by the NHL teams. They usually know what they're doing.

No, I realise and accept it shouldn't be the same but each team has their own reasons for doing what they do -I just think Flyers maybe need to update theirs a wee bit ;-)

i found this online... www.pa-announcer.com/pa_006.htmpoint 5 hits the nail on the head things are slowly getting better, it must be hard, especially after our previous PA who we all got used to. the guys need feedback, not criticism, i'd suggest dumping the " ?? fans make some noise... flyers fans make some noise" to me it's not working, though something else might, i'm pretty sure if i was in their shoes i'd welcome some suggestions more readily than i would a stream of criticism. as for the S.O. howler, pretty sure that aint going to happen again!!

Can I suggest that if you want to complain about something then why not contact the club directly instead of moaning on here?
I know when I had issues they were passed on to management.
Since we've had a change in DJ the music selection has been dire! There is no where near enough variety, and what is being used is terrible. Even the little sound bites have disappeared completely, things like when penalties are called, when opposition players are arguing with the officials, etc.

I said to my wife when leaving FIA tonight what negative can someone on the forum can find after such a great evening? That sums it up for me. You left the rink after a great performance and win and you were already thinking about finding something negative on the forum. It'll be no surprise to you that I agree with Finchy, It was a terrible mistake to make if you know anything about hockey. While i'm being negative and spoiling the forum, can I ask the DJ's to stop this pantomime every week with the slapshot challenge. Just take the kids up to the blue line, nobody even cheers now when you do the same routine very week. I think you'll find that my life isn't so empty that I need to think about the Flyers forum all the time! My point was that people love to moan - its totally natural and a lot easier after than being positive. I've been on the old Flyers forum for years and to be honest I've moaned too! My point is that it doesn't matter how good it gets, they'll still be negativity. Now we seem to have people claiming to be less of a fan if they came within the last 2 years - outrageous! It would appear that the ethos behind this forum (as quoted earlier in this thread by a mod) was to have somewhere moan. Seriously is that what a forums for? For me I thought it was to spark debate, to say what a great game that was or what imports do you think we'll sign etc etc Am I peeved with the performance last - yes but what does coming out and saying x y z is c*** gonna do? Nothing because they're part of the team and we all should support the team. Yes the announcer shouldn't have said that but hey it seems that's a load of rubbish because he did get a shutout!

Whether this was started as a moan is neither her nor there. He has raised a good point with further connotations on the state of the match night.
Why are people here so eager to jump on others that are highlighting things that can be improved? What is wrong with improving ourselves?
