Having an import nm opening the gate every night is madness given we don’t have any decent brits. Without brits in the team we need imports on the ice not warming the bench We won't waste an import slot on the backup each night. It'll be a Brit backup for Flyers

Been on a two way with Kestrels and Blackburn. Still only 19 but would he learn more sitting on our bench learning from imports or still playing at Blackburn

From what I heard Andy fell out with the club when they brought salama in after he was promised to play when Shane was out, no surprise then that he has left

Let's be honest what local guy in his right mind would want to play for the Flyers these days? You just sentence yourself to virtually a whole year of sitting on a bench, must be soul destroying.

How many games did euan simpson get...in fact how many teams play their home grown back up..its not just a fife thing. Don't play your best available team and your going to get beat more often than not..

Your right man, I still think we could maybe squeeze a bit more ice time for brits though, how else are they gonna improve.

I'd much rather Ben Keddie went down south to NIHL and got experience and gametime there than sat on our bench all season. A capable Brit from the NIHL who can play some games will get some games. A 19 year old goalie with some NIHL1 experience is unlikely to get more than training and warm ups.

Ben I think is in a good position in that he is young, and perhaps a year training every day and picking up the habits from a pro like Owen would not do him any harm, even if he does sit on the bench. He can then take this with him wherever he chooses to go. I think the training led by Coolen will be high tempo and be more catered for goalies at times than in the NIHL.

The best way for our young brits to grow and improve will be through a season or two at NIHL level where the competition standard is a step or two above SNL. If they can prove they can excel there, they do a lot to show theycan earn a spot on a EIHL roster.

I think what's missing though is Flyers having an NIHL link so that players feel they have a team to come back to and keep them in the flyers family if you like instead of simply losing all the talent that might come through. Like football does signing them then farming out, I suppose what Fynn is doing or loans.

You need a competent Brit backup to be prepared to sit each night if need be but if there is the luxury of getting minutes then be able to come on and hold their own. When league positions come down to a a few points come the end of the season you afford to drop any points through one or two games. Also could do with the luxury of an import backup to be able to rotate or come in should the other import goalie pick up an injury. You can’t have the situation that we had last season where Owen got injured and Little came in and we dropped a few points, in particular in thinking of the away Dundee game. Those 2 points were desperate for us come the end of season. It’s the only way to run in the Elite league and isn’t just a luxury.
