Well! Thought we were going to get nothing when Steelers scored with 1.52 to go, but an equaliser on the power play with Owen pulled and then an absolute cracker from Pinkston in overtime gave Flyers two very necessary points. Flyers had a good first period and deserved their 2-0 lead at 20 minutes. The second period saw Sheffield well on top and thought that we might well have been behind instead of going in all square 2-2. Terrible check on Schaber by Johnson saw the Steeler thrown out along with Gauthier who jumped Johnson. Thought the refs missed a boarding penalty when Bloodoff was checked into the boards. Despite one of the refs signaling a penalty none was called after the usual officials huddle. Steelers took the lead twice in the third, but Flyers worked hard and deserved at least a point, but happier with the two. Cazzola, Bulmer and Pinkston had excellent games and Finucci stepped up after a Schaber was injured. Schaber looked in a pretty bad way as he was led from the ice. Unfortunately most folk seem to be talking about the refs once again. Yet another poor performance with several soft calls on both teams and inconsistent calls throughout. The officials look out of their depth and look in need of some serious assistance and help.

The clowns wearing the stripes should be reffing SNL games nothing higher how the EIHL think they can dish this up week in week out is a joke if these 4 guys were regulars at Cardiff Nottingham Belfast or Sheffield they wouldn’t last a month of the season The crowd let their feelings be known and to think they get paid for these atrocious performances it needs to stop it can’t go on another season Back to the game got to be poorest Sheffield team we have ever seen at FIA No Stoflet Crowder Schaber and Gauthier then Bloodoff our for 10 minutes also they couldn’t beat a two line team. Really can’t see that coach hanging around for another season. Our guys dug deep in the 3rd to tie the game despite the stripes And then The OT winner sent the Flyers Fans home happy on a cold march night,Hope Bulmer wants to come back he has been pretty good last few weeks and as went from being called lazy to a fans favourite Need to get max points next weekend MK then Coventry on the 3rd game of the weekend after a Friday and Saturday in Belfast

Sad to say but the refereeing standard tonight was terrible and influenced the game greatly at times. Flyers looked very comfortable at 2 nil up but three PP goals from Steelers swung the game in their favour, with a couple of minutes to go they scored from a speculative shot from almost the Flyers bench door which sneaked past a blocked Owen for the lead, a late penalty allowed Fife A 6/4 advantage to square the match and onto overtime culminating in a winning goal from Pinkston at 3/3 . Now fans will have to wait and see what injuries Flyers will take into next weekends games as already missing Crowder & Stoflet the injury hoodoo continued tonight with Schaber leaving the ice hobbling not to return and Birzins missing for a large part of the game also, to add to the woes Gauthier missed a large part of the game picking up an ejection at the Schaber incident and Bloodoff had a long sit after being called for boarding. Overall a gutsy performance from the short bench to secure a very important win with the players letting their emotions show at the final whistle

That is why I love hockey!!! What a game that was! Could talk about the refs but everyone else has covered that very well and quite rightly but the biggest talking point should be about that Flyers team. Missing arguably their top line of imports they dug deeper than we have given them credit for this season.
Brett Bulmer will get all of the praise. He does transform us from an average team to a quite brilliant one at times but Cazzola ran that game for us. Everything that was good started with him. I didn't see the top billing that Edinburgh fans had given him earlier in the season but most of the transformation in the past month has been thanks to Mike.
Another faultless display from Moore and Isaacs at the back. Pinkston is really showing his class, but Birzins and Aarsen playing hurt have to get honourable mentions.
It was simply that desire that won the game.
Fear now for what happens if we lose Schaber. We saw earlier in the season how him not being there hurts the team.
This will test if we have the ability to evidence and influence DOPS in the way we should. I fear an equally big ban for Goats plus the loss of Schaber hitting us at a critical point in the season.
Another big talking point really needs to be how did so few people see a game that had everything? Where else in Fife was there a better nights entertainment this weekend? There are obviously people working hard in the background to deliver that last night but there is no effort to get that message out resulting in the poor crowd - such a huge shame.
Hockey and the Flyers are there to be loved just no one can see it.
