Putting any dis ussions about coaching staff to one side this is who I would welcome back to the FIA next year in no particular order
forwrards Dingle Heart and soul and a franchise guy Fox. If he plays for full season the way he played before christmas Sisva Skilful and with right line mates will generate points Schaber great second half of season has shown grit and points Brooks A class act still one of the fastest forwards in the league deadly on short hand or normal breakaways Stockton. Great hands and very good in own zone we have missed him Finucci. Carlo has been great value - works hard and proved his worth on pk
defence paquet. Only one to bring back good skater and tougher than most people think
Goals. Would love to bring Owen back but reckon he will aim higher than eihl
brits tnis year only one would be Wando scoonie had more ice time , lovely bloke but not as good as farmer, Bari mackenzie etc. So would hope for an upgrade , we need too recruit players like Ben Davis john Dolan , Bari mckenzie, Craig peacock, Craig Moore
get a strong British core , bring back some key imports and then we have a strong basis.
Restricting us to local boys is a severe hip.
Happy to be shot down but would appreciate other perspectives.

Dingle and Fox ( didn't want him back after last season, but he shut me up..... effort and grit are through the roof this season). Schaber would make my list too. I know I am in the minority, but I like Thinel's vision and passing ability, but his lack of speed and grit let's him down.
I like Paquet...... and also Moyer on d..... none of the others though...... Haines has been a shadow of his former self. Owen will be elsewhere, he is too good not to be.
As for Brits, Scoony deserves to keep his place, Wando too..... we need Andy Little as backup instead of Douglas, Chad Smith and Marty Simpson on the bench EVERY game, getting a few shifts per game to gain experience...... AND rotating in a few other 16/17 year olds to prepare them for the jump up.

Forwards- Dingle- best two way center in the league and our franchise player Fox- great on our special teams,25 goal scorer so a must bring back Brooks- good player Schaber- our second heart and soul guy, been our best player since christmas Stockton- great size down the middle and great on our special teams. Has to come in full health though
Defence Paquet- an absolute must, been our best defenceman all year, love the grit he plays with Moyer- smooth skating defenceman but probably sometimes over plays the puck. A leader for a team like fife though so a must re-sign
Goaltender Owen- say no more
British A complete overhaul of the british players to make us a real contender for the league. Bring moore from dundee. Id try and steal swindlehurst from manchester and show him that we mean business next year. Id love us to play 4 line hockey. Id sign ben davies to play on our top three lines so he can get back to be a scoring forward in this league. Id have caly robertson and chad smith on the bench and when we're winning comfortably id throw dingle/stockton between them and roll a fourth line.

Only things I would change/add is sign Reece Cochrane to a 3 year deal same as steelers have done with Kirk and Shudra. Moore is on a 2 year deal so I would assume he remains a star. Biggest thing for next season is build a team that can show real grit/physical play and entertain the fans.

I agree with all the import choices from Flyersstew/ My concern is the brits. We need another couple years out of the ones that are here now and add some better ones like say Ben Davies and seriously fast track new ones, likes of Chad Smith.
But, if you go and watch the Kestrels which at the moment is the top of where the young boys are, the standard is very poor and nowhere near Elite in anyway. If you look at Smith, Robertson, Cochrane they are all smaller young boys. They could do with a flyers influence giving them a gym programme and a summer hockey prep school as this league is very physical, fast, skillful, and they are not used to this in the Kestrels.
Marty Simpson has the height, skill, and edge to definitely give it a go, but again is very thin.
The flyers as a team need the existing brits or a few new ones for another couple seasons to allow these young boys to come on enough and to bulk up/ get used to paying against men and not just talented teenagers.

In fact I have an idea that all our existing brits should be on two ways with Kestrels, and instead of simply sitting on the bench, the 4th line should be made up of existing and those performing well in the Kestrels. This would bring the level of the Kestrels up also. And Hutchins or Todd should be at every Kestrels training to make sure the flyers way of playing is in the team, again for easy transition.
Also if we want to attract brits to this club and we don't want to pay full time wages, why don't we target those brits with a bit between their ears who want to perhaps get a trade to see them ok when hockey is not an option, get local firms in on it, and offer apprenticeships/ elite hockey package to them, ie Jack Wishart could offer apprentice plumber jobs, would undoubtedly attract players the way uni deals do the imports.

I would bring back
Owen
Paquet / moyer
Dings / brooks / schaber / stocks and fox.
Add size and power up front and size and protection at the back and if we want trophies and we are deadly serious about it we need full time brits

What Braehead are doing with Buesa and what Sheffield are doing with Kirk and Shudra is what we should be doing with Smith and Cochrane.
What Dundee have done with Moore and Grieveson is what we should be doing, with Jordan Crowe already back in the UK and Alex Forbes likely back at some point. The players who have to North America will have had a better hockey schooling than most UK based youngsters.
What Edinburgh did sending Plews and King back with Emmerson for a summer hockey camp would be great for our young lads also. Flyers should be funding this every summer with a player deserving it from the under 20s selected each time.

Kestrels have 14 teenagers in their line up, including a couple of 16 year old kids. Playing in the SNL right now isn't a bad thing. What all these guys need (and are getting in a small way) is a Strength and Conditioning program. Not from the Flyers as such but from a proper S&C coach. Folk need to stop thinking they cant jump between the SNL and The EIHL. That is Todd's brainwashing in effect. How have the kids at Dundee Braehead Sheffield etc all managed to get ice time and survive. How did Callum Boyd jump from the SNL to the EIHL. We have some of the best prospects in Scotland in our Junior system but they cant do the same as kids at other clubs are doing now and have done in the past. C'mon take the blinkers off and stop listening to Dutes Bull****. Its nothing but smoke and mirrors. He simply doesn't want to develop any local guys as it would stop his mates getting a game. The guy has even attempted to say Flyers fans wont stand for us not winning if we play these kids. Its nothing but a smoke screen, the fans of this club have always supported young players coming up into the team.

I agree waterboy,
most eu country's now have a programme in place where by kids are tough S&C from a very early age so bye the time they get to 15-18 they have the ability the body and the core strength to play a higher level of hockey the skill can be developed through time this is why we are miles behind that way, countries now are putting these thing's in place that's why when we played Aalborg there younger players looked bigger and faster than ours because they have been doing all this strength work for years

No Brit development is what a few of us has been saying for years, it's jobs for the boys in Todd's world, he was Johnny on the spot at the time Fife entered the EIHL but it's time for a change now.

Out of which 1 is in GB u16, 2 are in GB u18's going to South Korea at the end of month for World championships. All had GB trials up to the u20's age group and are all still young enough to trial 20's again next season. Not many clubs have this at their disposal.

The Director of Player Development has had an excellent first season eh. Wonder how many of these kids he could actually name?
