My contribution to the Flyers programme this season will take a brief look at the games played on the particular date(s) of the home games during the season.
As it might be of interest to those not at the games or non programme buyers I'll drop my piece in here after each weekend and who knows it might spark some memories for folks.
Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on this day, September 7th.
With the hockey season starting much earlier now than in the past it is unsurprising to only find a few games, all of which have been played in fairly recent seasons.
Season 1991/92
Ayr Raiders 7 Fife flyers 6 Autumn Cup
Flyers travelled to the Summit Centre, Glasgow, in search of two much needed points and would have returned with at least something had it not been for a superb display by GB number one John ‘Bernie’ McCrone. Despite being outshot the Raiders took a 3-0 first period lead thanks to a single form Eaton and two from Hicks. Frank Morris opened the Flyers account early in the second and the deficit was reduced to one with a Haig breakaway before Richard Laplante tied things up short handed. The teams then traded goals to start the third with Morris bagging his hat trick and with ten minutes to go it was all square at 5-5. Laplante on the PP put the visitors in front again but the hosts won it in the last five minutes with Eaton and Gary Smith netting the winner.
Season 2003/04
Edinburgh Capitals 4 Fife Flyers 4 Findus Cup
The Flyers travelled to Edinburgh on the Sunday looking to keep up momentum from their opening night win at home against the Hull Stingrays 24 hours earlier. Flyers looked certain to bag another two points as they eased into a four goal lead. After a scoreless first period the Flyers opened through Karry Biette and soon after followed new signing Dan Goneau’s 3rd goal for the club. Biette then silenced the home crowd with a quick-fire double to complete his hat trick. It all went horribly wrong in the third when the Capitals hit three in 90 seconds through Lynch, Krajicek and Droppa to get within a goal. Having steadied the ship it looked like the Flyers might escape with both points but with 90 seconds remaining Tony Hand equalised in what was a pulsating derby encounter.
Season 2008/09
Dundee Stars 1 Fife Flyers 8 Autumn Cup
Fife on the back of losing at home the previous night to Solway returned with two points from North of the Tay in a game that no one expected, or if truth be told, wanted to be so one sided. They won the opening period 3-0 with powerplay goals from Stephen Gunn and Chris Wands and an Andy Samuel even strength strike. They added a further three PPG’s in the match after Linton had opened Stars account early in the 2nd period. The other Fife scorers were Steven Lynch, Gavin Holmes, Todd Dutiaume, Jamie Wilson and another from Wands.
Season 2013/14
Fife Flyers 2 Cardiff Devils 5 EIHL
After back to back defeats to Dundee in preseason action this was the Flyers home opener of what was their 3rd season in the EIHL. Few who were at this game will talk about anything other than the Matt Nickerson and Lord altercation that resulted in the Flyers man facing his first of a number of bans from his time in the EIHL. Nickerson was the type of player often goaded by the home fans on the opposition benches but tonight it was the Fife fans who were mostly, not entirely though, enthralled as he clashed with Andrew Lord. The Flyers were controlling the match most of the way and were ahead through Tim Hartung before the incident late in the first. From the resultant major penalty they lost three goals and ultimately the match with only a Derek Roehl consolation to follow.
Season 2014/15
Coventry Blaze 4 Fife Flyers 2 EIHL
The Flyers travelled to the Skydome for their opening road game of the season having lost out the night before to the Blaze by a single goal as they shut the Flyers out on home ice. Another tough game was expected in an arena where Fife had struggled since joining the EIHL. Goals from Jordan Fulton and Kyle Haines had Flyers level at 2-2 going into the final period but the game ran away from them in the third with an empty netter securing the win for the homeside

Bought a programme for the first time on Saturday. I dont normally buy programmes at sporting events as they are at least 60% adverts and have little content.
The Flyer is anything but and I'm still reading it! Well done to everyone involved. There must be a huge amount of effort that goes into putting all that together.

The Flyers programme has been the best in the league for years out of all the ones I've seen anyway.

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on this day, September 15th.
Season 1984/85
Fife Flyers 3 Air Canada 2 Challenge Game
A crowd of 2500 saw the eagerly awaited debuts of Ron Plumb, Dave Stoyanovich and Danny Brown. The Flyers lead after the first period thanks to a Brown goal. The visitors equalised early in the middle period but the Flyers scored again through Plumb to restore their lead. Midway through the third a bullet of a shot from Abel had the Flyers further ahead before they were pegged back a few minutes later.
Season 1990/91
Fife Flyers 11 Humberside Seahawks 8 Norwich Union Cup
The Seahawks visited Kirkcaldy with a perfect 3 for 3 record in the Norwich Union Cup. Flyers hit double figures for the second week in succession. The game winner came in the 32nd minute from youngster Davie Smith, his second of the match. The Flyers were 9-4 ahead at the end of the second and managed to secure the win despite a late fightback by the Seahawks. Other scorers for Flyers were Oslizlo 3, Fera 2, Millie 2, Korotuicka and Bobby Haig.
Season 1991/92
Durham Wasps 17 Fife Flyers 5 Autumn Cup
The Wasps gained revenge for an earlier reversal against their Division One opponents when they ruthlessly outclassed the Flyers. The Flyers who were buoyant from a victory over the Racers the night before opened the scoring through Les Millie. Colin Downie performed heroics but shipped four before things were tied up through a brace from Robertson and a trademark Abel slapshot. A couple of bad errors in defence allowed the Wasps two quick goals to close out the period. The Flyers pulled within one early in the second but that was it as Wasps hit 11 unanswered goals with Dickson relieving Downie in the shooting gallery.
Season 1996/97
Paisley Pirates 5 Fife Flyers 3 Northern Premier League
The Paisley bench contained no fewer than 10 players from the 15 who had at some point previously dressed for Fife. The first period took over an hour to complete with Pirates Redmond, Plews and Edmiston and Flyers Mercer and somehow inexplicably Morrison all thrown out by ref Fraser. Thankfully the game calmed down and the Pirates were ahead 2-1 after the first and 5-3 at the end of the second. Flyers goals came from Morris, Wilson and Latto.
Season 2001/02
Fife Flyers 8 Edinburgh Capitals 1 Findus Challenge Cup
The Flyers maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable win against their old rivals. Silver faced only 16 shots whilst the Flyers peppered Crossland with 50. Steven King scored a brace with other goals from Morrison, Monteith, Morris, Samuel and both Todd and Mark Dutiaume.
Season 2012/13
Fife Flyers 5 Braehead Clan 1 Challenge Cup & EIHL
The match was played for both Challenge Cup and EIHL points and the home team came out flying and built a three goal lead in barely 10 minutes. Indeed Kris Hogg threatened the Flyers fastest ever goal (Lovell 6 seconds) by opening in just 9 second and he added another on the PP in the 5th minute. Caisey Haines made it three in the 10th minute and like the Clan the rink was rocking. McPherson and Muir dropped the gloves in the 13th minute and it was a beauty of a tilt. Zemlak on his return to Fife was tormented all night long. Haines added his second and Dolan completed the rout with Chaumont netting a consolation
Season 2013/14
Coventry Blaze 6 Fife Flyers 1 EIHL
The match completed a nightmare day for the Flyers. The team bus broke down on the way South which resulted in a two- and-a-half hour delay to face off. The Flyers were down three imports with Nickerson suspended with Hartung and Dutiaume unable to ice but competed well for almost 30 minutes with the score tied at 1-1 thanks to a DaCosta equalising goal. Regan was replaced by Daly late in the 2nd but the result wasn’t on him as they ran out of steam and Blaze eased to the two points. The team then had to wait until the small hours of the morning for the replacement bus to reach them to return home.
Season 2018/19
Fife Flyers 1 Dundee Stars 3 Challenge Cup
The Flyers Challenge Cup hopes all but disappeared after this disappointing defeat against their Tayside rivals. Dundee scored early through Bouchard, Flyers were 1 for 9 with the man advantage with Schaber breaking the shutout midway through the third but by that time Dundee were playing a comfortable road game having added counters in the second through Dow and Hart.

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on this day, September 21st.
Season 1950/51
Fife Flyers 8 Ayr Raiders 4 Autumn Cup
The Flyers got their season off to a winning start against a much fancied Ayr Raiders side. The visitors took a two goal lead in the first with a couple from Moe Fife (oh how did he not end up in Kirkcaldy!). With Flyers struggling Marshall Bentley pulled a goal back before the break. The Flyers went to town in the second with a couple from Snider, Bentley completing his hat trick and Campone chipping in to give the Flyers a 6-2 lead. Ayr tried hard to get back on terms but a double from Young confirmed the win.
Season 1985/86
Fife Flyers 17 Glasgow Dynamos 2 Norwich Union Trophy
A huge crowd of 2800 witnessed what the local press called “Lambs to the Slaughter” as the Flyers opened their competitive season account with a proverbial barrowload of goals. They were 7-1 ahead after the first period with a Plumb on target after only 34 seconds. Brown scored 5 with debutant Bidner and Linton notching hat tricks. Scoring was completed by Edmiston, McLellan, Plumb, Latto and Cottrell. The Burd made its debut in the stands.
Season 1986/87
Dundee Rockets 4 Fife Flyers 10 Norwich Union Cup
The pre match hype was all about whether the Rockets would ice Mark Pavelich the former New York Rangers star who was in a contractual wrangle. Despite taking the warm up the BIHA ruled the Rockets could only play the two imports. The Flyers controlled the game from the start and were 4-1 ahead at the first break, the teams traded a goal each in the second before the Flyers powered through the third. Stoyanovich scored 4, three of which were short-handed! Sims scored a hat trick, Jeffrey, Haig and Abel added singles.
Season 1991/92
Fife Flyers 4 Ayr Raiders 3 Autumn Cup
The Flyers exacted revenge on the Raiders who had beaten them by the odd goal in 13 two weeks earlier. Frank Morris scored another hat trick against his old employers whilst Cal Brown was huge in defence. McCrone was once again formidable in Raiders net. Ayr broke the deadlock within the first minute of the second period. Flyers stretched to a 3-1 lead with Laplante also netting before Ayr levelled the game again. The game winner came with seven minutes remaining.
Season 1996/97
Fife Flyers 8 Whitley Warriors 1 Northern Premier League
This was a straight forward win for the Flyers, in front of 2300 fans. They outshot the visitors 40-29 and kept their discipline late on when the Warriors lost Iredale and Markham to early showers. Steven King top scored with a hat trick, Samuel bagged a brace with singles form Craig Wilson, Morrison and Richard Dingwall.
Season 1999/00
Peterborough Pirates 2 Fife Flyers 1 Benson & Hedges Cup
The Flyers finished their Benson & Hedges Cup section undefeated dropping just 1 point in six games. They advanced to play the Pirates over two legs the first of which was a rare midweek trip down south on Tuesday night. Coach Morrison hailed the 2-1 defeat a great result as the Flyers were playing their fourth game in five days and could ice only 11 skaters and two goalies. He admitted that they were pretty much outplayed by the Pirates but dug deep to keep themselves in with a chance of advancing to the next round to meet the Superleague’s Nottingham Panthers.
Season 2013/14
Fife Flyers 1 Coventry Blaze 2 (Shootout) EIHL
The Flyers slumped to the bottom of the EIHL with what was their 3rd successive home defeat, albeit a second consecutive beyond regulation. Injury and suspension yet again left them short benched with DaCosta the only import blueliner. Gunn gave the Flyers the lead and they bravely clung on to the slender margin until 9 minutes from time when Henrich equalised and Blaze secured the extra point in the shootout.
Season 2014/15
Dundee Stars 2 Fife Flyers 1 (Overtime) Challenge Cup
The Flyers secured a point in what was an uninspiring performance as they managed to fire only 18 shots on Stars MOM netminder Marc Cheverie. The performance had dropped off from 24 hours earlier when they had defeated Stars on Kirkcaldy. The Flyers went ahead through Bobby Chaumont before Stars levelled in the second from Lust. They were punished for sitting back when it went to overtime and Gongalsky fired past Regan for the winner.

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on this day, September 29th.
Season 1949/50
Fife Flyers 6 Ayr Raiders 6 Autumn Cup
Flyers were down two then up three and were lucky to share the points with the never-say-die Raiders in their opening Autumn Cup match of the season. Flyers hit 5 unanswered through Vern Greger, Chic Mann, Marsh Bentley and a Johnnie Vanier double to lead 5-2 midway through the third. Ayr tied it with three goals in as many minutes before the diminutive Vanier completed his hat trick only for Ayr to tie it once again.
Season 1952/53
Murrayfield Royals 2 Fife Flyers 2 Scottish Cup
The game at Murrayfield failed to raise much excitement and a draw was just about right. Moe Fife (yes that man again) put the Royals ahead in the second only for another Moe, Zubatiuk, to level. Fife (Moe that is) restored the lead before Zubatiuk once again levelled with only four minutes remaining.
Season 1984/85
Fife Flyers 10 Dundee Rockets 8 BlueCol Cup
British Champions Dundee Rockets were served notice of the Flyers intentions in a pulsating match. Rockets were ahead 7-3 late in the second but were then blown away by the Flyers. Gordon Goodsir opened and Danny Brown and Dave Stoyanovich added counters. The same pair hauled Flyers back into the game late in the second at 7-5. Murray McLellan then Stoyanovich’s hat trick levelled before his fourth put them in front. Brown increased the lead but it took a Neil Abel slapshot near the end to finally settle this one.
Season 1985/86
Dundee Rockets 4 Fife Flyers 3 ABANDONED Norwich Union Cup
The Flyers were on the verge of losing their unbeaten start to the season in a game played more in swimming pool conditions than ice as the refrigeration plant at the Kingsway rink suffered a malfunction. Despite the best efforts of both teams the ref eventually had little choice but to bring things to an end as play became both farcical and more importantly dangerous.
Season 1990/91
Fife Flyers 9 Medway Bears 3 Norwich Union Cup
Little did anyone know that this was to be the last time the Flyers home fans would to see Czech’s Lubos Oslizlo and Jaro Korotuicka perform with as they were released along with coach Figala two weeks later after a run of three away defeats. Flyers had only one defeat coming into this game and were never in any danger as they lead 7-0 after two. Iain Robertson had a hattrick, Rick Fera and Bobby Haig doubles and singles from Les Millie and Paul Hand.
Season 1996/97
Fife flyers 7 Paisley Pirates 4 Northern Premier League
In what was becoming a typical match up with Pirates, where Scott Plews for the second time was given an early shower, the Flyers played smart hockey against their hard hitting and much less disciplined West coast rivals. Quickly out of the traps they built up a 3-0 lead after the first period and simply managed the game the rest of the way to frustrate their visitors. Steven King and Mark Morrison hit doubles with Frank Morris, Richard Dingwall and Gordon Latto also grabbing singles.
Season 2001/02
Fife Flyers 1 Dundee Stars 6 British National League
Flyers ‘perfect’ season came to an unexpected and somewhat spectacular end as Stars allowed their hosts the opening goal through Mark Morrison before playing a brand of road hockey that Fife couldn’t seem to get their heads around. Stars were worthy winners scoring three each in the second and third periods whilst outshooting the Flyers 36-32.
Season 2007/08
Fife Flyers 9 Paisley Pirates 2 Scottish Premier League
Flyers were once again hardly pushed in this game as they continued to dominate the opposition in the newly formed SPIHL. Pirates, lead by new coach Bobby Haig, were a shadow of the team that rocked the rink many nights only a few years ago. Lewis Glasgow got the opener and scoring was spread around the team with goals from Iain Beattie, Steven King, Gavin Fleming 2, Iain Bell, Stephen Gunn, Craig Mitchell and Jamie Wilson.

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on this day, October 6th.
Season 1938/39
Fife Flyers 1 Falkirk Lions 3 Scottish Points League
This was the Flyers first even competitive match and a match that they lost entirely down to faulty positioning, pot-luck shooting and a first-class display of goaltending by Buster Amantea in Lions net. Davey and McCuaig had the Lions two ahead into the third before Norman McQuade pulled one back and roused the 3000 strong crowd. Stapleton sealed the win however with a breakaway goal.
Season 1949/50
Fife Flyers 8 Perth Panthers 1 Autumn Cup
Although undefeated on the season this was the best display so far from the Flyers. Bert Smith opened the scoring in the first and he followed that up with another in the second, then Earl McCrone, Marsh Bentley and Johnnie Vanier increased the lead before Doig broke the shutout. A double from Scotty Reid and Smith completing his hat trick ended the scoring.
Season 1952/53
Falkirk Lions 4 Fife Flyers 1 Scottish Cup
Despite the final scoreline the star man in this game was the Flyers goaltender Harry McQueston who time after time thwarted the homeside. The Lions eventually broke his resistance late in the first with a couple of goals from Arnold and Bergeron. Nick Dubick gave the Flyers some hope midway through the second but the Lions added another two in the third from Baker and Livingstone.
Season 1954/55
Dundee Tigers 5 Fife Flyers 3 Autumn Cup
A hattrick from Tigers coach ‘Red’ Kurz was the difference in this game. Flyers without influential defenceman Ken Johannson battled hard and after going behind in the first took the lead in the second after Johnny Andrews fired a double. Tigers were ahead by two early in the third before Wayne Sutherland pulled one back but with 27 seconds to go Kurz sealed it with his third.
Season 1968/69
Fife Flyers 8 Whitley Warriors 9 Autumn Cup
The home opener of the season certainly gave the crowd plenty to shout about. Flyers had just been rocked by the news that Les Lovell would be playing for Murrayfield with travelling an issue and they gave a debut to George Pearson from Whitley Bay and had Ian Nelson in goal on loan from Glasgow Dynamos. Fife Scorers were Graeme ‘Pinky’ Farrell 4, Joe Baird 2, Pearson and Jimmy Hunter
Season 1984/85
Fife Flyers 11 Ayr Bruins 4 Bluecol Cup
Dave Stoyanovich continued to tear up the scoring charts as he notched 5 goals and 4 assists to take him to 19 goals and 10 assists in just four matches. Danny Brown notched a hattrick with singles from Ron Plumb, Neil Abel and ‘Bean’ Anderson.
Season 1990/91
Peterborough Pirates 12 Fife Flyers 2 Heineken Premier League
The opening weekend of the Heineken Premier league after a decent Norwich Union Cup campaign. Game one of a disastrous weekend on the road that ultimately saw the dismissal of Coach Figala and Czech imports Oslizlo and Korotuicka. Rick Fera and Iain Robertson scored in the third period to prevent being blanked.
Season 1996/97
Whitley Warriors 2 Fife Flyers 5 Northern Premier League
Flyers continued to ride high at the top of the league but were made to work all the way by their hosts. The Flyers finally pulled clear in the third period when Frank Morris completed his hat trick and Mark Morrison added the insurance goal with 8 minutes to play. Wayne Maxwell had opened the scoring for the Flyers with what was his first senior goal.
Season 2001/02
Fife Flyers 6 Peterborough Pirates 1 British National League
After a goal less opening period the Pirates were put to the sword in the middle twenty minutes as the Flyers opened up a 5-1 lead. In a dress rehearsal for the Findus Challenge Cup semi-final next month. Frank Morris opened the scoring after 30 seconds of the second. Peterborough levelled soon after but that was all that Silver gave up as Todd Dutiaume and Russell Monteith bagged doubles and Mark Morrison a single.
Season 2007/08
Fife Flyers 7 Solway Sharks 1 Scottish Premier League
A Steven Lynch hat trick helped Flyers demolish one of the supposed threats to their title ambitions. They outshot an under-strength Sharks team 41-15 in the game with other goals coming from Daniel McIntyre, Steven King, Chris Wands and Gavin Fleming. Blair Daly lost his shutout with a little more than 3 minutes remaining.

Thanks for the effort in putting these together! Interesting reading and remembering some names. Was the 99/00 season we first went, my wee bro got free tickets from one of their school visits. I had a huge crush on Ted Russell (I would have been in 1st year), think it was him and Russell monteith did it. I was so jealous we never got anything like that😂

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on October 19th.
Season 1950/51
Fife Flyers 2 Dunfermline Vikings 0 Autumn Cup
The Flyers had now only lost one of their opening 11 matches. A late Al Campone goal and then a penalty kill by the flyers had the crowd on their feet in one of the most thrilling matches seen at the rink. Pete Belanger was naturally the hero with his first shutout. Marsh Bentley the other Fife scorer.
Season 1953/54
Murrayfield Royals 3 Fife Flyers 0 Autumn Cup
The Flyers had netminder Ron Collins to thank that this was not an even more emphatic victory for the Edinburgh side. It was now only one win in 14 for the season and an eleventh straight defeat for the Flyers.
Season 1954/55
Fife Flyers 3 Ayr Raiders 1 Autumn Cup
The Flyers took a 3-0 first period lead and registered their second win from eight Autumn Cup games with goals from George Bruce, the ex-Paisley Pirate signed a week earlier, Walt Davidson and Johnny Andrews.
Season 1968/69
Fife Flyers 2 Glasgow Dynamos 2 Autumn Cup
A Joe Baird double looked like it had the Flyers heading to their first two points of the season but the Dynamos grabbed a very late equaliser to deny them.
Season 1975/76
Paisley Mohawks 3 Fife Flyers 14 Autumn Cup
Law Lovell scored almost directly from face off and the Flyers reportedly went on to bombard Callaghan in Mohawks with an eye watering 94! Surely the goal judge counting had watery eyes? The Flyers scorers were: Brennan 4, Les Lovell 3, John Taylor 3, Cottrell 2, Law Lovell, D Latto
Season 1985/86
Fife Flyers 7 Durham Wasps 5 Heineken League
The Flyers kicked off their British Championship campaign in some style. In a typically 80’s shootout of a game. Bidner scored a hat trick, with goals from Goodsir, Abel, Brown and Plumb who sealed it late on.
Season 1986/87
Ayr Bruins 7 Fife Flyers 8 Norwich Union Cup
The Flyers remained unbeaten on the season but only just as they won their Norwich Union Cup section. Mike Jeffrey set a new point record in the Norwich Union cup with his 3 points in the game taking his total to 67 points. The result was purely academic as Flyers had already qualified but they maintained their 100% record with a strong second period and held off in the third for the narrow win. Sims 2, his first after 25 seconds, Stoyanovich 5 and Jeffrey were the scorers.
Season 1991/92
Fife Flyers 9 Romford Raiders 3 Heineken Division 1
In a hugely uninspiring match the Flyers stretched to a four goal lead in the first period and the Raiders were already halfway back on the bus. A Cal Brown hat trick with Gordon Whyte, Steven King, Les Millie, Frank Morris, Richard Laplante and Bobby Haig also scoring.
Season 1997/98
Peterborough Pirates 5 Fife Flyers 2 National League
The Flyers looked as though they were on course for an excellent road win leading 2-1 at the end of the second period with goals from Morris and Haig but capitulated badly on the final period losing four without reply.
Season 2002/03
Fife Flyers 2 Coventry Blaze 4 British National League
Blaze took an incredible 107 mins in penalties but still found a way to win. Blaze lost Carpenter and Moborg to game penalties as ref Craig left visiting coach Thomson fuming. Flyers also had issues with injuries to Morris and Roberts and were always chasing the game after calling a timeout when Blaze went 3-0 up at the mid-way point. Dutiaume and Haig with the goals.
Season 2003/04
Guildford Flames 1 Fife Flyers 2 Findus Cup
In form Flyers needing a win to advance to the semi-finals of the Findus Cup survived a first period blitz, being outshot 15-4. They killed five penalties before Ian Fletcher gave them the lead midway through the game. The lead was extended before the break by Steven King. Flames reduced the deficit four minutes from time but the Flyers hung on.
Season 2013/14
Fife Flyers 1 Sheffield Steelers 4 EIHL
Groundhog day for Flyers fans as they watched yet another toothless performance form their favourites. Rok Pajic finally got them on the scoreboard in the third period but long before then the Steelers were already thinking about their next match.
Season 2014/15
Dundee Stars 3 Fife Flyers 5 EIHL
The Flyers were always chasing this game until a three goal burst in the closing stages sealed the points for them. Auger, Reber and Stewart had the game tied before a short-handed goal from Kyle Haines and an empty net from Fleming ENG clinched the win.

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on November 2nd.
Season 1939/40
Fife Flyers 1 Perth Panthers 1 Scottish Points League
In their opening home game of the season the Flyers were held by the Panthers in a game that despite the lack of goals had the crowd enthralled. Flyers George Horn and Panthers Art Schumann were handed major penalties for their pugilistic skills. ‘Breezy’ Thomson had the visitors ahead before Tommy McInroy slotted a late equaliser.
Season 1950/51
Fife Flyers 5 Dundee Tigers 2 Canada Cup
Archie ‘Flash’ Williams made an impressive debut for the Flyers against his former team as the Canada Cup holders got their first win after losing their opening game in this season’s tournament. Scotty Reid scored a double with other goals from Floyd Snider, and local lads Bert Smith and Jimmy Mitchell.
Season 1968/69
Fife Flyers 3 Murrayfield Racers 12 Northern League

Season 1975/76

The Flyers continued their unbeaten start to the season and top of the Autumn Cup table when captain Les Lovell went one better than the previous weekend and bagged a double hat trick. Coach Lawrie Lovell scored 3, D Latto, John Taylor and Joe McIntosh completed the scoring.
Season 1980/81
Murrayfield Racers 7 Fife Flyers 2 Northern League
A third successive defeat for the Flyers as the Racers moved two points clear in the league table. Flyers were 5-0 down before Horne and Lovell found a way past old hand Willie Archibald in Racers net. Kinmond took five separate minor penalties as the Flyers were way too hot headed under pressure.
Season 1985/86
Fife Flyers 7 Peterborough Pirates 3 Heineken Premier League
Chic Cottrells first ever hat trick in the Heineken Premier League helped maintain the Flyers 100% league record. Gary Brine in Pirates net was responsible for the score being as close as it was. Brown 2, Pennycook and Bidner also scored.
Season 1991/92
Fife Flyers 10 Slough Jets 8 Heineken Division 1
The Flyers maintained their 100% home record but only just. Les Millie, for the second consecutive week, top scored with 4, Bobby Haig 3 all in the first. Richard Laplante, Cal Brown and Iain Robertson added singles.
Season 1996/97
Fife Flyers 7 Murrayfield Royals 4 Northern Premier League
The visitors gave the runaway league leaders a scare by taking a 3-1 lead midway through the first period but then didn’t score again until the final few minutes as Fife got goals from Morris 2, Morrison 2, Samuel, Parent and Maxwell to give the Flyers their 11th win on the bounce.
Season 2003/04
Bracknell Bees 5 Fife Flyers 1 Findus National League
The game was delayed by 45 minutes but this didn’t appear to impact the homeside who raced into a three goal lead by the end of the first. Dutiaume finally got the Flyers on the board at the midway point with a PPG but the Bees extended their lead with another couple of goals before the break.
Season 2004/05

Season 2014/15
Fife Flyers 5 Edinburgh Capitals 2 EIHL

Tonight we look back through Flyers 81 year history for games played on November 10th.
Season 1938/39
Fife Flyers 4 Falkirk Lions 4 League Scottish Points
Flyers inflicted the first dropped points for Scottish Points leaders Falkirk Lions who allowed their hosts to salvage something from the game after giving up a 3-1 lead. Lovell opened the scoring and then goals by Billy Fullerton and McQuade levelled the game. Jimmy Chappell scored a late goal to earn a share of the points.
Season 1947/48
Dunfermline Vikings 3 Fife Flyers 3 Autumn Cup
The Flyers were left still without a win in the West of Fife rink. Brown and Sholtz were in great form in the nets and it wasn’t until late in the second period that the first goal arrived through Hawkins only for the Vikings to tie the game immediately. Snider regained the Flyers lead before the buzzer. Vikings edged ahead with two goals in the third before Roy Hawkins equalised with his second of the game.
Season 1949/50
Fife Flyers 7 Perth Panthers 3 Canada Cup
It took a while for the Flyers to get the measure of the Panthers as they trailed after the first two periods. However they blew the Perth side away in the third period. Reid had scored in the second but the six goals in the third, without reply, from Bentley 2, Mann 2, Vanier and McCrone somewhat flattered the Flyers.
Season 1952/53
Murrayfield Royals 2 Fife Flyers 5 Canada Cup
The home side were ahead 2-0 after two periods and it looked far from probable that they would surrender the points in this contest. A five goal display from the Flyers however shocked their hosts. Nick Dubick with two, Bud Stock also with a pair and Scotty Dowle completed the comeback.
Season 1963/64
Durham Bees 3 Fife Flyers 10
Season 1973/74
Fife Flyers 3 Murrayfield Racers 5 Skol Cup
The Racers inflicted the Flyers first defeat of the season. A Lawrie Lovell double and a single, which brought up his 200th goal for Les Lovell, was not enough to keep pace with the Edinburgh side.
Season 1979/80
Fife Flyers 4 Glasgow Dynamos 6 Autumn Cup
Flyers with Willie Cottrell nursing a broken hand had given 15 year old Andy Donald his debut the week before and now had the experienced Jim Taylor return in nets. Dynamos shocked the Kirkcaldy crowd by taking a 4-0 lead. A hat trick from Charlie Kinmond and a single from Jimmy Jack tied it up before the Dynamos took the points in the closing stages. Law Lovell relinquished his coaching duties after the match.
Season 1984/85
Fife Flyers 9 Durham Wasps 2 Heineken League
Flyers avenged their only defeat of the season so far when they brought to an end the Wasps 100% record. Inside 69 seconds Brown had already scored two of his SEVEN on the night. He added three in 150 seconds in the second period as the Flyers lead 8-1 going into the third. Stoyanovich and Goodsir had the other goals.
Season 1990/91
Fife Flyers 7 Peterborough Pirates 12 Heineken Premier League
Pirates recorded their first win over the Flyers in Kirkcaldy in their 9th attempt, in fact only the Pirates first ever win in the Heineken era north of the border in 31 attempts. Only 4-3 down after two periods the Flyers collapsed in the third conceding 6 in little less than 5 minutes. Scorers were Fera, Gatzos 2, Robertson, Coughlin 2 and Smith.
Season 1991/92
Trafford Metros 5 Fife Flyers 15 Heineken Division One
Flyers hit the top of the league after back to back wins in the road. They met former Flyers Fera and Butorac in the Metros line up. Morris top scored with 5+4, Laplante 4+ 5. Other scorers were Robertson and B Haig with doubles and Wilson and J Haig with singles.
Season 2001/02
Fife Flyers 8 Edinburgh Capitals 2 British National League
Edinburgh coming off two consecutive wins were brushed aside by the Flyers with ease. Doubles from Mark Dutiaume and Monteith with singles from Todd Dutiaume, Venters, Biette and Wishart.
Season 2002/03
Dundee Stars 7 Fife Flyers 1 British National League
Flyers were always playing catch up and the later the game went the more they left huge gaps at the back to try to make up the ground. Dutiaume was the scorer. After the game the Flyers released on-loan import Jeff Trembecky.
Season 2007/08
Fife Flyers 6 Solway Sharks 0 Autumn Cup
This quarter final tie 2nd leg was already over before puck drop with Flyers ahead 11-2. Saving their energy for a big tussle in Dundee 24 hours later goals from Lynch 2, Wands, Dutiaume, Muir and McIntyre brushed aside an understandably disinterested Sharks team.
Season 2012/13
Fife Flyers 1 Dundee Stars 2 EIHL
Flyers heavily outshot the Stars but only had a Caisey Haines redirect to show for the efforts after 40 minutes. They then hit penalty trouble in the 3rd period and Wirll scored a double, his second in the final minute to complete a smash and grab win.
Season 2013/14
Dundee Stars 6 Fife Flyers 3 EIHL
Flyers were ahead inside 40 seconds thanks to Chaumont but once they fell behind they were always chasing the Stars shirt tails. Fulton and Roehl scored the other goals.
Season 2018/19
Fife Flyers 3 Manchester Storm 2 EIHL
Flyers were shocked after only 1 seconds when Byers fired the Storm in front. McKenzie equalised before Bloodoff put Fife in front. Storm equalised in the second and the game winner came from Cazzola in the 31st minute.
