Before we begin, I just want to say I wasn't at the game on Saturday. I've been to every home game before last week though and a trend is already in motion. What trend you might ask.... Teams taking liberties against us.
I would also like to point out, as much as I am for an enforcer, I can't bring myself to fault any player we have brought in this summer. We have a really good bunch of forwards and a great core in D from what I've seen so far.
I watched the highlights from Saturday, and we have Rutherford, a guy who's 5'9" running riot, eye gouging (apparently) then jumping Cullen. Again, I wasn't at the game, just going by the highlights. We had Clarkson throw only one punch to end a fight against Delahey two weeks ago. Pacquet sticking up for himself last night, which is all fine and well, but let's say Pacquet broke his hand? there's a 1st line D man out. 3 players going for Gunny. My point is that we are only a month into the season, and we already have Dundee and Edinburgh bullying us, and it will only get worse. Teams will or already have figured out we are a team who can be easily bullied, and that will seriously go against us. We do not have team toughness. Cardiff, Nottingham and Belfast are teams with team toughness.
Pure and simple we need an Enforcer. I couldn't help but wonder when watching Dundee that we could've had Clarkson, he said in his first interview as a star that he wanted to play in Scotland. Having him or a Salters in the line up and we wouldn't need to discuss this topic over and over.
Thoughts please?

I have been at every home game, the Edinburgh away game and watched all other games via stream. We are a good team with very good players, and credit should go to the coaches and owners for signing a quality team. However not having a tough guy has been a major blunder. The first four games were OK but things started to get rough in the second period of the home game against Edinburgh and in all three periods against Cardiff. My concern is that from now on all games will be like that, and we'll get players hurt through goons taking cheap shots because they know they can, or one of our players getting a gubbing trying to step up. With weak incompetents like Brown reffing it could get very ugly. After watching the Cardiff game, I could not have given a toss about winning, I just wanted to see Hendrix and Hotham having their faces realigned!

Don't think there's much debate here. We need an enforcer. It's clear there's gonna be some bad injuries to players on our team. As much as Paquet and Delahey are willing (and Cullen I guess) they really aren't a match for the big boys. Watching Rutherford run riot was extremely painful to watch. The only issue in getting an enforcer is we don't really have anyone to dump as of yet. Everyone's pulling their weight well. Maybe just a big Brit, lookin at you Hamish!! But especially with such terrible officals, our team won't survive the season and the 5-2 wins against Edinburgh/Dundee certainly won't be a theme for us. We really, really should have signed Clarkson from Cardiff. Would have fitted nicely on that 3rd line as Cullen's certainly good enough to be top 6. I guess right now all we can do is get behind the team and hope things go our way..

As I posted before it would be a great shame to lose any of our players because of injuries or them having enough of other teams taking liberties.

Which of our imports, which most people agree are the best unit we've had in the Elite League do people want to get rid of to bring in an enforcer? Instead of players being lost through injury as everyone is claiming will happen we'll be short through suspensions instead. If the powerplay can be consistent it'll punish teams better than any enforcer would. The debate has been done to death, we have what we have, it's time to get on with it!

Out of the games we've been "bullied" in, we've only lost away to Cardiff. The coaching staff need to be pro-active with the league officials and ask for them to remember their core duty is to enforce the rules and maintain player safety.

I don't think we particularly got bullied last night, Cardiff will do to most teams at home what they done last night, I didn't think they were overly dirty, just had a couple guys prepared to get involved and more intimidating us than bullying. Anyway yes we should have got one, personally I think we should have signed a good Brit D and a D enforcer instead of probably Delahey, nothing against him at all but I'd say he was probably the weakest D although he is a good player.

We beat both Edinburgh and Dundee. I think when we start losing games and getting bullied this is a issue. It doesn't seem to bother these guys Fife have signed.
I said at the start of the season we 100% needed one but so far so good without one

I would love to hear your current thoughts now we are a month into the season... As long as he agrees with your point of view I guess. If he doesn't he'll be accused of being a club insider. We didn't get bullied by Edinburgh. We controlled the game. Certain Edinburgh agitators did their job, which would have happened with or without an enforcer. Put Nickerson into the Flyers team last Sat and the only difference is he gets kicked out for being 3rd man in with Cullen. We weren't going to win on Sunday in that small rink even with Tony Twist in the team. The teams built on speed.

Rutherford should be looking at a minimum 3 game suspension for his antics on Saturday Basically Jumping Cullen Matt done less to a Steelers player last season and got 3 games for his troubles Rutherford shouldn't have been back on the Ice the ref was losing it by then Flyers should be asking DOPS to review this Caig got two games for less. In terms of an Enforcer you don't win games fighting but having an Enforcer on the team acts as a deterrent If Matt had been on our team last night Hendrikx would not have played the way he did What do we do as we have a good team, sign an Enforcer as a spare import play him when we feel we need to i.e. Devils, Panthers Steelers and Giants games and Injury cover, none of our guys have shied away from anybody,Tommy could have squared up to Rutherford. I am happy with the team we have once they have been around all the rinks they will know what they have to do

The interesting thing with Rutherford, I reckon we can pretty much guarantee that if Nickerson had been in Wings, and hit a guy who was on the ice....he'd be facing 5 games. And we have proof of this from last year, a nothing hit, resulting in a silly ban,
