Got rid of Nickerson at the right time. He looks past it. I wouldn't hear a bad word against him but how many proper fighters has Matt actually beaten since he came to the UK with the exception of Fitzgerald the first time they fought? When he's gone up against Spencer, Salters, Keefe, Clarkson etc., he's not been able to get the better of them at all and that's twice Fitzy has avenged him now. I loved what he did for Flyers but the fans who think he was the toughest guy in the league are well wide of the mark in my opinion.

You could equally say who has he actually lost too? Most of his fights were pretty even, he and fitzy could fight a thousand times with a different result each time whoever lands the first bomb! It's not always about the win, it's about putting it on the line, a close good scrap win or lose when you're sticking up for a team mate or trying to get a spark does the job. I hear he's doing a better job on the playing side this year though.

Apart from that I'm not disputing what you're saying, although like many have said the role of the enforcer is becoming diluted. My sole point was really that there had become an assumption by many of our fans that Matt was the toughest guy in the league. I'm sure if he's fitter he'll do a decent job on d for Belfast. He has decent attributes away from the whole fighting thing and I'll always wish him the best of luck any night he's not playing Fife.one thing I'll never dispute is that he brought our crowds from 1500-1600 to well over 2000 in the space of a year and was a great signing.

I think we're on the same page here, I know he's lost on points if you like but he's never been embarrassed if you know what I mean? He isn't the toughest but he may be the best at the entire role. Anyway we don't have him or anyone like him so that's that eh!

Matt threw a few big punches to start with but never seemed to land on much, fitzy ended the fight with a cracker of a punch taking Matt down.
TKO win for Fitzgerald.

Matt tends to lower his head going into a fight, maybe Fitz has noticed this and takes or chooses his punches better.

Problem with matt is. He likes to settle before a fight. He's not a smart fighter either. Like has been said. He just puts his head down and swings hoping to land. Every swing is a full blown haymaker and that takes it out of a fighter VERY quickly. Also notice how fitzy the past twice has not given matt time to settle before they fight. He gets right in close and goes for him. Matt doesn't like that. But. By gid if matt lands flush. Your going down.

Who cares, it's quality entertainment. Both guys deserve serious respect for what they're prepared to do every night.

Who cares. It's a forum. For people to discuss topics and opinions.
P.s of course they both deserve respect for what they do and the entertainment they provide within the game.

This is horrible to watch Rioux trying to save face and fight The quicker we bring in an Enforcer the better

Looks like Caps Bigos will get a minimum of 3 games continuing to hit a player when he is down

They are clearly not fighters but are being put in that position by the goons on the other teams taking advantage. How long before these players vote with their feet? Check the small print in your contracts boys!

It's maybe part of the game but none of these guys are fighters, imo it won't be long before some of them decide enough is enough and leave due to the bad coaching and injuries.

At the start of the season I thought ok lets see how it pans out considered pros and cons These players coming from across the pond will be use to the rough stuff Last season we would probably have got away with it 12 games in this season and I think the majority of fans would agree we now need one. With exception of the Storm and us all other teams coaches have an Enforcer and more in their squads. I also think the Clan will get bullied by Erdhart teams as McIver not an out and out Enforcer Ali put the question to Todd post Devils game and he still thinks we don't need one What does Todd see that 8 other coaches see different, its part of the Elite League this season keeping teams honest with Enforcer presence.
