We sit at the top of the league but haven't been selling out the FIA. Worse, some away fans say they find the atmosphere and actions of fans here intimidating and are unlikely to return.
The FIA is old, it needs a bit more TLC but it allows you to be right on top of the game. It is intimate, it makes a great noise and it creates an atmosphere that the arenas never will.
How many players and coaches have let it get to them? How many Flyers players have said how it lifts not just them but the hairs on the back of their necks?
If having a filled barn is such a potential advantage, how would you increase attendances? The question is aimed at fans so ideas such as reducing ticket prices isn't one we have we have control of.

Do what other teams do and have reduced prices some times that may get more people in advertise it better grip people with it enough to make them think I really wanna that,

I'm not trying to be controversial here... well maybe I am... but as someone who twice a season travels from Inverness (i know some travel every week from further ) even though the club are top of the league im not this season (and in recent seasons) inclined to go more often... why not... main reason is entertainment... yes the team are winning games... but its a real struggle... for example i am a regular webcast viewer and got the webcast last weekend for the game against the Blaze... for 50 odd minutes it seemed like the Flyers were outplayed... showing only occasional sparks on offense... I appreciate I was watching a screen but there appeared to be little passion from the players... the crowd were quiet... I basically was not entertained... so much so that i wasn't inclined to get the webcast for the following evening, although I normally would have done... I know this wont be popular with some... but the club needs a character... villain or otherwise... like him or not, Big Matt put bums on seats... as well as on the ice... i travelled more to watch the flyers when he played than i have done since... like it or not that is a fact... and if i am a "normal" fan, then im sure others are feeling the same... other who live much locally than I do... I'm not suggesting Flyers goon it up every week... that doesn't work... but people want to see a team full of character and excitement...

I agree but not only do we need characters on the ice, the whole match night 'entertainment' needs to be improved, this is an integral part of the experience. We seem to have gone backwards since the BNL days in this respect. The announcer is poor, the pre-match build up is poor and appears completely disorganised, between period entertainment isn't great, sound is terrible, scoreboard doesn't work properly.... Each element should be fairly easy to fix but nothing seems to be done about the game night package.

There is no real attempt to sell the product, it is as if management are happy with the core regulars.
The barn should be buzzing this year, but isn't.
last weekend the performances were so insipid it was not likely for a neutral to say "Wow I want more of that".

I did exactly the same as you youngman, struggled through the Blaze game on the web on Saturday and couldn't muster the enthusiasm to get the MK game on Sunday.
There is a certain apathy about supporting the Flyers at the moment. Strange that it's come during our best two seasons in the EIHL. Last years team deserved much better crowds for their sterling efforts, this years team sit top of the league but crowds are disappointing and atmospheres flat. You can see it on the forum as well, it's dead hardly any threads or posts.
Something needs to be done to buck things up.

Memories indeed. First match I saw was against Durham in the early 60's. Really is sad to see how the crowd has frittered away with no obvious push to try and get people back.

Would be the perfect time to start ramming pack the barn promotions down everyone’s throat like they did before and it was proven to work, guess they just can’t be bothered with it, seems a waste.

To be fair whilst promoting and match night experience could be greatly enhanced it is quite obvious that people just do not have the spare cash today as they did previously, going to other sporting, musical and social events I notice a lot of familiar faces no longer appear or less times at best, recreationally I am a keen motorcyclist and I would say bike traffic on the roads and bike meets have nowhere near the attendance they had in the past either .... financial times / climate we are in I'm afraid.

Active promotion of games instead of the current complacency shown towards potential customers might generate more bums on seats. A box office that is open to allow people who work “office” hours to pick up tickets may encourage folk to buy tickets. Can’t see why the box office is only open 4 hours a day for sales. Then again the Flyers shop is rarely open for the whole time that fans are able to access the rink prior to games. The match night experience for want of a better term is so amateurish it is embarrassing with a poor shouty patronising announcer, badly organised between period activities and a general feeling of everything being done haphazardly. Maybe the club should contact Todd Kelman at Cardiff and find out how that club manages to sell well over 90% of their seats every week.

I agree with the need for a character and the standard of hockey last few seasons. But so as long as the crowds are below capacity give away 100 tickets to schools free with accompanying adult. They would share new support and even a free ticket brings revenue in food 50 50 tickets etc. Do more promotions in general through all the sponsors with ticket giveaways, they can afford to do this with 500 tickets for each game most weeks.
